I am going to be dropping acid for my first time soon with a friend that is also a first timer. We were going to do it in his house while his parents were at work. However, complications arose and now we cannot use the house. I was wondering if it would be okay for us to go out onto local hiking trails. Do you think bad things could result from being in a location we do not know that good? Also, the high for the day will be only 36 degrees. Will the cold be detrimental to the trip?

it'd probably be best to have a "safe zone" like someone's house, especially for your first acid trip. i like to go for a walk when i'm tripping, even if it's below freezing, but i can always go back to my apt. whenever i want. i wouldn't want to spend the whole 10 or 12 hours out in the cold.

Outdoors in the woods is the ultimate place to trip. Wear layers. bring hot beverages.
Are you allowed to build fires?
Find a cool place as far away from civilization as you can, "set up camp" and build a small fire. Watching a fire, looking at the sky (do it at night if you can)...Priceless tripping environs!
Just don't freak out and decide to bail as soon as you start to get off. Settle in to your spot and try to hang until you at least regain your visual coherence a bit( 2-4hours) then just do whatever your heart desires!

    Have fun!

I can't not go for a walk while tripping... but I have tripped with folks who seem annoyed by that.

I am pretty sure there is a pit already set up for a fire out in the woods we were planning on going to. Would it be difficult to keep a fire going while tripping?

you could always bring a sober buddy or two. might be a good idea in the cold in case you do really want to leave

yes find somewhere to set up camp to have as a sort of 'headquarters'. a safe place. if you want to build a fire it might be a good idea to start it before you dose up, it would be easier to keep going that way. although, keeping a fire going while dosed CAN be a little cumbersome. also, make sure you dress right. being cold is no fun.

but otherwise, nature is a great place to trip!

Naw, just gather up a bunch of wood so you can have it close at hand. you don't want to be stumbling around looking for wood when you start to really get off. Those first few hours can be pretty disorienting...then once you 'get to speed' so to speak, you may be quite be surprised at the clarity of mind you can achieve while tripping.
Aim for maximum clarity and you will be rewarded, I guarantee! :sultan:

Definitely bring a sober friend if you are gonna have a fire going - Boulder has had some nasty wildfires lately...check and find out if you can even start a fire,

No offence, Purp' but fuck that! sober friends are a drag when you are tripping...they are usually the first ones that want to go home when they get bored and cold.
If you don't have 'that little sober man in your head' at all times while tripping, you prolly shouldn't be tripping at all. This shit is not for the faint of heart.

    no offense, but fuck THAT

if you are gonna try and have a fire in the woods while youre tripping in a place that has very recently been having problems with wildfires, then you need someone to be able to keep things in control. to do otherwise is irresponsible and with that mindset you shouldn't even be tripping in the first place.

You haven't built many campfires in your life have you...
I have lived in wild-fire country most of my life. Matter of fact, I have tripped in many of the canyons in the op's general location. I went to highschool just 20 miles or so from Boulder.

If you are not completely stupid, building only a small fire in a proper enclosure is quite easy to keep safe. (He said there was a goddam fire pit didn't he?)

If there is wild-fire danger it is posted at the campsite or trail head when fires are not allowed. Big fucking sign that says EXTREMELY HIGH FIRE DANGER;: NO FIRES ALLOWED.

PS. I see most of the Boulder area is under a red flag warning right now anyway, so prolly no camp fires at all for a while. so that solves that then doesn't it...

We will actually be going to colorado springs over thanksgiving break. I'm not sure if you can start fires but there is a pit that has had fires in it before.

    Cool, interesting terrain down there.
Much different than right there in the foothills...

i wouldnt start a fire without a tripsitter if the area is under wildfire alert...thats just being responsible. You don't neccessarily need a fire; I find that when I trip i'm completely unaware of the temperature. Just wear layers and make sure your hands feet and head stay warm and covered.

tripping in nature is definitely the best place to trip in my opinion. definitely set up a camp and get familiar and comfortable with the area before you trip, just to be safe.

Thank you, I totally agree. I always suggest a small fire (when safe) mostly for the visual aspect, also I believe watching flame has a subtle 'grounding effect'. I mean it is probably the most primitive form of security and comfort...One can't help feel more relaxed around a warm fire and the simple task of tending it helps keep you alert.
Huddled around a fire, staring into the flames, out into the dark veil of the forest and sparkling night sky, you might catch a little piece of that feeling of wonder and awe ( even terror!)that must have posseses our pre-civilization ancestors. Keep your wits and truly feel yourself in the universe!

(Ya know, If you do all this shit with the right mind set, you don't need the hallucinogens...I don't. ) ;)

    thank you...:pirate:

    solid advice.

just be prepared for cold. layer up and shit - you can always take clothes off if you need to, but you can't put clothes on that you didn't take with!

Because that's what i was saying, right? smh
    :pirate::pirate::pirate:

Even without an active 'extreme' warning, I'd say it'd be pretty irresponsible to start a fire while you aren't fully able to react to a fire getting out of hand is just straight up immature.

Oh should he follow your lead and trip at the bars? Soooo mature.

Dude you've only tripped what twice? You would most likely react to a fire much quicker on acid then being drunk and probably even stoned.

i think once someone is familiar with the effects of acid (and familiar with making fires) that there isn't a problem with having one while tripping. maybe not a great idea for your first time though.

i had one of my best trip out in the woods on 3 decently potent hits. you can bet your ass i built a fire.

maybe you need to have been a boy scout
