ok, i've chosen to go the natural route and i'm a notoriously impatiant person. i'm only at about 3 weeks and nothing much is happening, but i'm confident in a years time my locks will be looking really nice. i did backcomb 6 dreads way underneath about a week ago, then decided to just let my hair take over. natural dreaders, lets keep eachother in check. lets use this thread to post pics of our messy hair and day dream of what our hair will look like some day. anyone with mature, truely natural dreads, feel free to post pics and encourage us i'll post a pic later today after i wash
se, i actually think of you quite often. your dreads are so nice i'm hoping that i will finally learn, after 30 years, a bit of patience. my 4 year old is always telling me to be patient lol
These are my natural ones at about 6 days. Click on the thumbnail for bigger images. Peace and love all of you.
looking good guys! i think my hair's finally starting to get messy. of those six dreads i put in, only four are left and they've shrunk down so much that the one tiny bead i had in one fell out as i was washing this morning owell, i can't fathom how i'd feel if i'd backcombed my whole freakin' head just to have them come undone. yay naturalness!
i woke up this morning to a couple really nice knots should i let them form a bit on their own before i separate them a bit?
when I backcombed mine it all fell apart after I washed it. Would it do that if someone backcombed it supertight?
to help it stick some salt water or lemon juice and water in your hair, helps it get knotty if you want to. or just be patient... yo really wont notice serious progression for atleast 7 months and they wont all form at once, you might get 3 dreads form then nothing change for a year then suddenly get a whole head full. thats the excitement of dreads
I posted this one a while back but I couldn't resist putting it up again... I'll get some new ones soon, coming up on six years after all!
Hummblebee ... that picture just gave me all the encouragment I need to stick with it, your locks are the epitome of what I hope to one day have. I've been going natural for a little over a year now ... i'm finally getting some decent looking locks ... I need to upload a new picture to put up here, I think it's been like 5 months since I added somthing.
nice dreads everyone! it's really keeping me motivated i'm starting to get knotty on the sides where i sleep. this is so exciting
@silver shadow: when your backcomb dreads you shouldn't wash the first weeks, because of that There are methods (like with feltingneedle) which help them stay better.
thanks i collected them from people on my travels. i also have a few of other peoples dreads in there
