1,1/2 cup all purpose flour 1 cup wheat flour 1/2 cup Honey mesquite flour 1 tablespoon baking powder 1 teaspoon salt crushed walnuts, chopped cranberries and blueberries all mixed up then mix 2,1/2 cups whole milk, 6 tablespoons butter, 3 eggs and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, then mix the dry and wet mixes together. fuck IHop. fuck their shitty pancakes and fuck their burnt ass coffee. :cheers2:
It's a flour made from the bean pod's off the Honey Mesquite tree, theres also screwbean mesquite too whihc I think would make an interesting additive to a homebrewed beer or wine. We'll see how long I stick around out here in Death Valley I guess. The bean pod's have a slightly sweet flavor to them, was quite a staple in the diet of the Paiute and Shoshone tribes from what I've read. The flour can be bought online but is pretty pricey. Of course it grows everywhere in the Southwest and can be made easily with a coffee grinder.
Thanks! I will have to try to get my hands on some and try it as an a different flavor profile in some breads.
Eh, take a vacation to Death Valley in June (I think it's june at least ) Heres a lil more info I culled from Google on the subject. http://fireflyforest.net/firefly/2006/01/05/velvet-mesquite-beans-and-recipes/ http://www.texasbeyondhistory.net/st-plains/nature/images/mesquite.html They grow all over around here.
Well that sucks I just went mountain climbing in Death Valley, wish I stumbled upon it while I was out there! Thanks for the links though.
