Should have been working towards this 50 years ago. Continued with manned missions to the surface and set up exploration and research labs there. Humanity may have missed out on a lot of scientific discoveries by losing interest in space travel. If we had continued we may be establishing the same on mars by now.
I believe that is the basic thought behind the unification of earth in the sci-fi series Star Trek. It reflected in the crew member diversity and the subtle way they all worked together as a team while holding to their heritage.
I noticed the diversity but I never knew that it may have been because the earth was unified. I can imagine a group of billionaires getting together from all over the world and building a space hotel for that unification but the damn governments will let them down completely. Starting from naïve embarrassment and ending with stubborn war and should this team attempt to encourage peace then they will just be ignored.
That's the concept Gene Roddenberry wrote into the story line. A centralized government including other planets in the galaxy. This was supposedly because humans almost annihilated our species due to war, genocide, and extinction. Gene took the current issues and subtly showed what damage was being done. It's especially displayed in the 4th movie, The Voyage Home, where the Enterprise goes back in time to find extinct whales.
The Voyage Home popped in my mind just before you mentioned that. Humans are annihilating our species due to war, genocide, and extinction as we speak. It is happening at such a slow rate that all other species suffer for the benefit of humans and yet humans continue because they are too selfishly ignorant and propaganda is actually used to exploit that weakness by keeping the majority too short sighted to care when a pressing issue will not go away and propaganda has somehow became generally acceptable to save elections of which could be just a little too perfect timing as certain investigations in to the abuse of power slip away. (Client list anyone?) I mostly blame government rule because they have the end power and the last say that is capable of outlawing all ecology nightmares. Even the return of space enthusiasm has been turned into something like a material mining venture and it is nothing more than a repeat. It may be unlikely that they strike crude oil on the moon but what will happen if they do?
To be honest..............we will go to Mars by 20...........................to do what? Never got,why they doidt focus on the moon first............resources/experience/expantion/ect.............jump off point to Mars, ect. I kinda think we have to sort out our own planets(geopolitics/resources/ect) bs out first, before we are going to make any real progres in space(mars/ect)............hope im wrong Mzzls
It's a double sword. Focus upon Terra and risk political anarchy. Focus upon Mars and risk Terra. The only real properties I can see in the moon is it's orbit. The front will always face Terra as it rotates. NASA can use this to send us love. The far side will always face away from Terra as it rotates. NASA can use this to send the Klingons missiles.
Missed it.................... just about 30min(work)....sigh. Now to gets some idiots on there(sollutions/resources/ect)................ Mzzls
Sadly enough all space age nations............US,China,EU, RU...................are not really friends atm. Like in online gaming.....................a little coop goes a long way..............lol. Mzzls
That's very heartbreaking and I hope their differences will go extinct when they unite against a common enemy they have created to defend our planet from man once and for all.
I still hope we can lean/addept.........science/energy/recources/ect............ Knock some sense into young minds(work)............. Mzzls
I have read that the children may inherit the Earth but they are more likely to be the ones to save it.
