You could buy a Baby Name book - the kind that to-be parents sometimes get to kick start some ideas.

Those don't always have the most common names either; it's quite interesting to go through them with the origins and what language it's from. I know I used to leaf through them whenever I needed something that felt right, and then if I felt like it, combining it with others.

    behindthename.com is a good resource.
Perhaps you could look for a name with a suitable (or perhaps ironic) meaning; strength, courage, luck etc

Can totally relate, I'm a name nerd so will obsess over these things. Took my years to formally name my longest standing character. He went by a nickname because nothing else seemed suitable.

Name-nerd ... ha ha! I guess I'm one of those too! I have long lists of names which I've compiled over the years. If I see an interesting name or combination of names anywhere I note it down for future reference.

Some of the character names I use are totally made up and others are just odd spellings of more commonplace names, example ... Mykel instead of Michael ... Jeen instead of Jean ... you get the idea.

Good luck with your naming. You will know the right name when you arrive upon it because it will instinctively feel right to you.
