a 'myth' is not necessarily a 'lie.' it is a story that demonstrates principles that can't be described in any other way but through a miraculous tale with characters that are not actually real, but who personify the principles that are being taught. when we make mythology history, we end up with the confused state this world is in. several cultures had the same myth of a bearded saviour who came to earth to help humanity develop compassion, was killed by the authorities, and returned home to the heavens after three days. the christians borrowed this tale from the cultures that preceded them. but don't worry, the easter bunny is real.
Thanks for your definition of a Myth. I did not think myths were 'lies' anway, but that should clear it up for those who were confused about all the 'liars' throughout history. Yes, and in the same way - when we make history mythology - we end up with the confused state many people, especially students, are in these days. -The 'Beard' part pretty much goes without saying for most of Earths history. Otherwise, there are thousands and thousands of myths. Its not surprising that, at least a handful would 'sound like' a Prophecy known amongst the Jews from a few thousand years BC. Having said that.. I cant find a single one that fits the description you gave. Please inform me as to which culture had a Savior who came to earth to help humanity develop compassion, was killed by the authorities, and returned home to the heavens after three days?[/QUOTE] No. They did not. You just made that up based on myths you have heard or imagined. BTW.. in case you were wondering why anyone was harping on and on about 'The Messiah' its because Jesus as Messiah most definately came from a 'Preceding Culture'.. it was called JUDAISM and for thousands of years 'Messiah' was waited on, talked about and expected. Yes, Easter Bunnies are real. Its Spring and Rabbits are mating. This produces Bunnies. Did you think that was a 'myth' too?
