Well. Not really. Marijuana does not make you want to try other drugs it's just the fact that because it's illegal you have to go to a dealer to get your drugs and well they have other drugs as well so it just makes it much easier to get other drugs. In addition because Marijuana is in the same class of drugs as much of the more addictive drugs a lot of people think that if they can handle marijuana then they should be able to handle other drugs. If pot were legal or at least not in the same class of drugs then it would be less of a "Gateway" drug.

So, no. It's not a gateway drug that will make you want to try other drugs, it's a drug that because of the criminal nature around it introduces people to drugs that are much much worse.

You seem to be arguing from the perspective that the plant doesn't have a mouth of its own and say "Go try other drugs kids, They're great." Well no shit.

    I'll rephrase it all...

Marijuana is highly influential on curious people to try other highs.

Dude, what are you trying to argue? You are wrong......So many people that simply started smoking weed moved on to other drugs weather they be psychedelics or narcotics. It's a pretty simple fucking argument man, There is no honor to defend. So quit it. People who make good decisions and people who make bad decisions use marijuana.

all illegal drugs are gateway drugs.

marijuana is just on the wrong side of the fence.

and that doesnt have to do with abuse cuz there's no fence there.

I'm not the one who started the thread. However, I agree with you to a point. All I am getting at is I hate that this term is used for a drug that if it were not illegal would not be the "Gateway" drug. My point is that if you did not have to go to a dealer that had access to other drugs then people would not be as willing to try other drugs.

You are using a term that the DEA and people who are against drugs as a whole are using. I don't think you want to be part of their propaganda machine. As a drug user.

However, I am willing to agrue any point. It's just fun.

Yeah, you've a point. But I'm not so serious. I still only agree with you to a point because yet peers can have an influence of what other drugs you do still many people do smoke weed and get curious about other things. No doubt in either case. If I'm going to consider the serious mindedness of the government as they conceived the term no doubt it is unfair to blanket marijuana as a "gateway drug."

But why would I play that game anyways?

Again on the "serious" level for marijuana not to be a gateway drug, meaning potentially influences more drug use, it would have to be not the case at all. The whole idea of yours that people perhaps try other drugs because their marijuana dealer has them simply indicates that marijuana does indeed have that potential.

I'm completely indifferent though, as I really believe it comes down to the person's choice, and it may be their fault entirely that they succumbed to the pressures of other drug use, especially in the case you mention. So there should be no need to defend the honor of the godblessed marijuana.

Pot itself is not the gateway, it's the people you get the pot from. Most dealers tend to have other shit, which leads to curiosity on your part.

oh, and I suppose pot may be a gateway simply because once you feel what it's like to be 'high' in one form, you may want to experience other 'highs'.

Since marijuana is so fun, it makes us curious to how other drugs make us feel.

When was the last time a marijuana plant help a gun to your head and say "smoke this crack or ill kill you'.

Its all up to the user, but with marijuana being ILLEGAL, it does make it a lot more tempting to try other things.
