Listen to music. Meditate. Read the book "The Book On the Taboo Against Kowing Who You Are" by Alan Watts. Eat Chocolate.
if it really aches i cry. i just cry ot all out. and i feel better after that. even a little. i have never been ashamed of crying. i loose a lot of feelings that way. or i write it down...and cry...
Piaf are you a christian? (not making a crack at you or your religion) If so or even if you're not, I would suggest reading something by Mitch Albom. His books really set-in good christian values (really just good moral values) ya know "fixing yourself and helping others" instead of the other way around, they also help put things in perspective. The best part about the books is that they aren't preachy at all (religion doesn't even come up in the books) which helps you enjoy the story even more IMHO. I guess if reading isn't your vice try some music, maybe Nirvana, Blind Melon, or Stevie Wonder. I always found reading and music to get my mind off a heavy heart. My $.02
I read Tuesdays with Morrie, it was very cute and sweet. Hah, I forgot about that book, thank you for reminding me ! I must say I am not familiar with any other work by Albom, but I'll google it !
solid advice from bonkai. I love Albom's books and I'm not a Christian. try The 5 People you meet in Heaven. music is the ultimate cure-all. The Beatles always cheer me up - White album or Abbey Road in particular.
go somewhere where kids are playing... I like to remember what life was like when I had no worries...it usually cheers me up a little
Happy kids remind me of my childhood and of how beautiful everything was and how it will never be the same. Zilla, I will look for that book
Tuesdays with Morrie or the one Zilla mentioned ? Either way, stop being such a snob. If a book makes one feel all warm and fuzzy inside, so let it be. Best advice so far !
