I really cannot stand nationalism. That includes American nationalism. However, it's rather funny to see people of certain nationalities who come here to reap the benefits of what this country has to offer, but they feel they need to flaunt the flag of the third-world shithole they left to escape the poverty of that country. I see this predominately with Jamaicans and sometimes Mexicans (though there are relatively few here as opposed to places like California). The US is the only softened, limp-wristed nation whose people tolerate this. And YES, people SHOULD be allowed to wave any flag they want in a free country without fear of persecution. It's just kind of ironic, because if you flaunted the American flag in one of those aforementioned countries, you would probably be mugged or killed. My point is, it seems intolerance and xenophobia only applies to people who are American or European. Anyhow...
Only A Couple Of Days Ago I Was Called A Xenophobiac Here On Hip Forums Because Of My Obvious Hate Of Muslims ........ I Carry No Regrets...... Cheers Glen.
^ If you don't mind being a hater you shouldn't mnd being called out for it. If it suits you, you should have no regrets. That's strange. It really isn't. How well have you looked? Or do you mean by certain american or european standards it seems like it only applies on them and not others? Just checking. Because if you take proper notice you can easily see intolerance and xenophobia in plenty of african and asian countries as well. edit: when I reread your post now it reads like maybe you are not talking about the rest of the world but more so about people in america that are not originally from there. Yet they can wave their native flag and people from the USA most likely can't in countries like Mexico or Jamaica (if that's true in all situations is arguable, probably depends on the details). Sorry if I misinterpreted at first! Just thinking out loud.
I get accused of being a nationalist for wanting Scotland to be free of tory scum rule. Does that make me a nationalist? Not really. I love Scotland, England, Wales and well Northern Ireland... no sure about the Irish. Anyway, I like everywhere on this island, apart from the noisy places. I prefer English beer to Scottish beer, for example. I live on a part of the border between Scotland and England that has been fought over for a thousand years and changed hands 14 times. The border bewteen Scotland and England, as are all borders are the result of centuries of bloodshed, and ideally they should not be there. However, the political compass of Scotland points in a very different direction to that of England and has done for as long as I can remember knowing what a country was, so in that respect Scotland should be a separate, autonomous state to England. Fuck the 54%, stupid, brainwashed, project fearmongering yoons. #indyref2 This doesn't mean we all have to be a war, the unionists vs the separatists, Scotland vs England, New Labour vs Real Labour. It's all fucked up. Everything is split, and it's split because the cunts in power need it to be that way, that way they can slowly edge through their totalitarian agenda.
It does seem odd to me that so many people line up to come to the US, even risking jail by sneaking across the border, when everybody in the world knows the US is run by white supremacists who systematically inject racism into every aspect of daily life. How could anyone possibly think they would have a better life in the US knowing what we know about Americans? And have you noticed that the final tab for slavery, something every race of people has done and has probably existed since the dawn of humanity, (much like homosexuality and crabs) has been deposited at the feet of the Americans. How handy is that? The whole world gets to take moral high ground over the Americans for their dreadful history of slavery (less than 80 years as a nation actually). The thing is though, I don't consider myself a nationalist by any means. I think all countries are fucked up collections of people who allow themselves to be run by greedy, fucked up assholes seduced by power and control. Which is why I think bagging on the Americans is about as trite as things can get. The Americans are a cross section of the entire planet's population and culture. It's like the charter school of the planet. As for flags, maybe you need to change your paradigm. When they hoist up the flag of Ecuador or Lebanon, don't lament them, welcome them to America and congratulate them for escaping from such a shithole! Be positive.
Some of the talk here reminded me of something I always hated. People (the SJW type) will talk about support for illegals because they are picking fruit for below minimum wage. So these people are saying they are all for exploiting people in bad situations. Exploitation dosnt sound like a very SJW thing to me.
I'm not following you You think America is limp wristed for tolerating it And yet you think people should have the right to do it I'm not a big fan of nationalism either though, but i dont see a problem with displaying a flag from your home country. If you use the flag to make a political statement and to illustrate how much you hate your host country, that is a different story but one i cant really be bothered about too much. In a world full of issues it seems like a non issue for the most part.
I see so many Mexicans where I live waving their fucken mexican flags and saying all this mexico is the best shit, fuck white people etc.. yea fucken mexico ese!!! If you like that shit hole so much get the fuck out of America and go there!!! and take your fucken "homies" with you!
All I saying is that if you went to another country and were waving the American flag from the hood of your car, it would not go over too well.
Yeah true that I dont ever really see anyone waving another country's flag around here, except confederate flags lol
This thread is embarrassing. Nobody gives a shit if you wave an American flag in a foreign country, barring extreme cases which Mexico isn't.
waving any country's flag in any country, seems like collective narcessism to me. unless its an imaginary one you created yourself. the real people in any place don't need flags, only those who have invaded and taken it over from someplace else and i mean those who's ancestors invaded it by choice.
Well he was talking about nationalism (and referring to people in other countries). It doesn't make much sense to me to be an active nationalist if one has emigrated to another country with the intent to make a future there. So that's why I took other countries in account. Anyway, when they yell/declare stuff like 'mexico (or whatever country they're from) is the best and americans (or white people) suck, Pressed Rat and rollinstoned would have a point.. But otherwise I wouldn't assume to quick why people display a flag of their homeland, or some pride that they were from there originally. Only a turd would insist they know for sure those are nationalists. I mean it doesn't have to mean anything if it would be a dutch or an italian immigrant, so neither does it have with a mexican or jamaican In the end (after my reread ) I have to say I agree with this: mainly because of remarks like this:
People, in the US at least, confuse nationalism with patriotism. Waving a flag around doesn't make someone any better of a citizen than a person who would burn that same flag. -Sydney J. Harris, journalist for the Chicago Daily News
They can easily be confused. It can also easily cross over into each other. I bet most patriots don't lose their pride in their country just at once when the country changes its ways: do these patriots immediately turn into nationalists then? I would say no, not by definition.. Also, sometimes what a country does or stands for is not so uniform as the patriot would like
Alcohol Is Strictly Forbidden In The Muslim Faith....... So Are Drugs........I Rest My Case....... Cheers Glen.
So are many of the actions perpetrated by the members of IS, yet you regard them as solid muslim followers? And a muslim who indulges in a toke or beer not at all? This is why some people who know slightly better confront you with your thoughts on muslims/islam But it is also a sign that in the end you are better ignored about that subject (why in earth should a muslim care about how some aussi hater, with no real interest or knowledge in and of their religion, inteprete their rules here ) We'll see Lets hope so
May I Humbly Suggest You Stop Twisting The Facts To Suit Yourself....... I Suggest That Instead Of "Mouthing Off" On Here You Actually Take The Time To Read The " Quaran"........... Problem Solved....... Cheers Glen.
