... is a genius. I love him! The first class I had with him, I thought he was completely out of his mind, I mean, he showed up 15 minutes late, then we he finally arrived, he sat down, had his breakfast (pretty huge breakfast), and took off his shoes and removed all the sand (sand?!) inside of them, and danced on it. And you should have heard the speech he gave, it was crazy. But later on, I realized he was a genius. Now I'm really exited every time I have a philophy class. I'm definitely getting all of the books he wrote (his name is Daniel Kolak, by the way, if you're interested). I decided to either minor in philophy or double major, with Business Management. But it would be a bit too much, so I guess I'll go for a minor. I'm gonna register for all his classes. I worship that man! Do you (did you) ever have a wonderful professor, so good that you actually didn't care if he gave you a ton of homework, that it made you happy, and that every class with them was like watching your favorite movie?
Yes, i've even asked her out. It was my english professor in highschool. The rest of them were just idiots, trying to make your life miserable. I hated them... But i like school and around...
yeah, i like most of my philosophy professors too - they are all slightly nuts as well (maybe it's the subject). Your guy sounds crazier, minbe are just subtly odd (and one looks like sean connory, is scottish, smokes a pipe and wears a deerstalker. He's cool)
My philosophy professor was idion and he was a Natzi, ahd he hated everything that is not Serbian(and I'm not). He married a girl, few years older than me. And he is 50. She was a studend in a generation before ours. He was totaly religious, and he hated when somebody doesn't tell a prayer before class...
I had a history professor who reminded me of Indiana Jones...and a punk rocker philosophy professor who played in this local band...generally dressed with a cops hat on.
my history prof last year for european history he was so witty, passionate and made the whole class laugh all the time. i loved him...i actually had a bit of a crush on him although he was kinda old.
I had a poli sci professor at a community college I went to that was totally brilliant. She was Buddhist and traveled a lot, so she was so well rounded and well educated. I KNOW I wouldn't have incorporated poli sci into my degree without her guidance. Who'd have thought that POLITICS was interesting and fun??
Heh heh. I had a Biology teacher when I was takin classes at the collage. He's a Viet-Nam vet, an he's always got a story bout the war. Also, he's a very social drinker. Fucker's jus a neat guy.
i like my american govn't pro...i just love sitting in his class..he is so funny and into what is going on and honest...i just feel like i'm getting so much from him...i dont' like when class is over.
I'm starting in uni next week, so I really can't say this for sure, BUT... Katy Gardner (the author of Losing Gemma, and The Mermaid's Purse) is teaching anthropology in the university where I'm going and since I'm starting to study anthropology... well I'm gonna register to as many of her classes as I can. I loved Losing Gemma and I'm sure she's a great professor. Hehehe... I'll probably ask for her autograph the first time I meet her.
Yes I have had a few great professors and have had a bad habit of dating them in the past. It is sad because for the most part once you get them out of class you realize they are not brillant but pompous and are super educated on one subject but not well rounded. Basically it is disapointing to realize they're humans just like everyone else.
My American History teacher. As you all know it's a required class, in America... Anyway, his tests were super easy and there was minimal homework, but you had a notebook you had to keep of class notes and assignments. He had 7 different copies(300-400 pages each) that he had memorized and rotated through for different periods and different yrs etc. His line was, "I don't expect your best on this notebook. I expect perfection". There were very strict rules for this notebook, and if you did not complete it to his satisfaction you didn't pass. Even if your grade was 100%, but to this day he is by far the smartest, nicest old man I have ever met in my life.
