How come the majority of Americans are so blind? It seems as though our culture will believe anything and everything they see and hear on corporate news; the same news channels that are run by corporations who have CEOs that hold the most important spots in our government. One week, Osama bin Laden is the most evil man in the world. The next, it's Saddam Hussein. After that, Scott Peterson and Michael Jackson are in the center of attention. Americans have become, to the rest of the world, the ignorant hillbilly that the rest of the school laughs at. While shouting cries of "liberation" and "war on terrorism", the majority ignores the fact that the real reason Iraq was invaded was because Saddam was planning to attack the U.S. with weapons of mass destruction. No weapons have been found, and Saddam was never going to attack. Yet, Americans believe that pushing their beliefs onto Middle Eastern nations is worth it, no matter what the cost; be it over 100,000 dead in Iraq, or thousands dying daily of starvation in their own country. If people would take the time to educate themselves, Americans would no longer be the fools of the world, Not all Americans are sheeple, but the number of informed people is nearly non-existant when compared to the number of uninformed, that it is nearly impossible for the intelligent to make any kind of impact in this country. All it takes is less than hour a day to read at an independent news source, surely everyone has that little time. Oh wait, leisure time is looked down upon in Corporate America. I had to write this for my English course The original, I wrote in about 10 minutes, and I can see it has many mistakes that I cannot fix... this version is much better. :H bah.... the damn thing won't let me put it in paragraph form asshats
thats a good essay!...but thats as long as its got to be? The essays they assign us have to follow a structure and has to be at least 5 pages...i learn nothing from it, but for some reason the school system believes thats the best way to make essay's. Lucky
You might want to back this up...The first part was okay, but I didn't see any immediate backup of this fact (or untruth) and I stopped reading from then on. But you're still awesome.
Haha... they only gave me one freakin' page to write on, and the requirements were 3 paragraphs, with 5 sentences in each.. wtf.. i was doing that stuff in 2nd grade I could've easily got atleast 5 or 6 more pages, if I checked out all my sources and backed up everything I said, but I did all this off the top of my head. I ended up writing sideways on the outside of the lines... I doubt I'll get a good grade at all, seeing as how this school program is in Georgia. :H Thanks.
Good to know some people are thinking. I think americans will except whatever explaination of anything that requires the least amount of effort or thinking on their part. If they're lied to and the truth comes out, they can just say "don't blame me, I was just being a good american and doing what my goverment told me." The gulf between being a "good American" and a good citzen of the world is getting wider.
Hmm... actually, only time I can think of when being a "good american" and being a good citizen of the world was during the revolutionary war... and the north in the civil war. All the other times, we've been attempting some type of genocide... not in my name.
I don't know, it just seems like americans are becoming even more apathetic and self absorbed. And easier to lie to.
no... thats where the homeschool thing is I can only imagine what the people grading this believe in...
Although I disagree with the content, I must nonetheless commend that it was a rather well-written essay
that's the second time you've told me that, trevor thanks i think it is quite good, considering the fact it took me less then 10 minutes to write/1 page was only required.
it depends how you look at it. the way its happening at the moment, is that america is the bully of the world who goes "giz all your money" and uk leans around the side and goes "yeah..." its rather depressing to be english when you think of it that way
