I went to the Goodwill store today and found out I had to sign up as a member to get my senior discount which means I now have to carry one of those stupid little plastic things on my key chain that says Goodwill. Like these. So my idea is that somebody writes up some software that lets me scan these cards into my computer or phone and then I can print out a universal one only card that covers all of the ones I scan in. Then I just laminate it onto a blank card that would come with the software. Presto! I just have to carry one card and it covers all my discount needs. The only problem I see is that the UPC code would probably be about 3 feet long depending on how many cards I combine into one. But every idea has a few bugs.
Seniors should research "Senior Discounts" in their area, and State and Federal discounts as well. I got a senior card for the National Park system for $20. Gives me free admission and disounts on camping fees. For the rest of my life, or until Trump removes the privilege. Oh, and the price has now gone up to $80 for the senior pass. There are also tons of other discounts including transportation, some grocery stores (usually one day a week), restaurants, hotels (usually AARP), etc.
thats a great idea...it frees up the cashier checking your id...much quicker to scan a little card or if you dont like it you could just skip the discount senior discount is descriminatory to younger folks anyway...youre not a supporter of descrimination based on age ,,are you?
Well, it's not a card but some business do it with an app on your phone. I can just bring up a bar code for the cashier to scan at Cub Foods and I don't have to worry about cutting coupons, it just applies them automatically to my purchase.
While it may sound like a good idea, it wont work. With bar code verification, the cashier would need to know which bar code to scan and with induction cards any other induction signal would corrupt the signal. The phone app works because it only displays the relevant code. Induction cards are already a major problem, because you can never have more than 1 of then on a key fob or activate them from the same wallet. Contactless bank cards are already a problem, since if you use them from your wallet and the wallet contains a second contactless card, you can end up paying the same bill twice. Software to prevent this has been introduced but it simply pays with the first card detected, leaving you unaware which card has been charged. If you have a prepaid travel card and your bank card detects first you will still end up out of pocket. Technology is fast becoming its own worst enemy.
That's another pain in the ass. I have to use my stupid smart phone to get a coupon. My wife makes me do it in AC Moore's. I'd much rather cut out a coupon from the newspaper. Newspapers, remember them?
Kill joy. With my system only one bar code would be needed. A universal get a deal reward bar code with no questions asked.
Sorry.!!!!! Better still, why not develop a code that would work in the cash ATM and allow you unlimited access to all the money in everyone else's account. Just remember to get all your own money out first and hide it under your bed. LOL PS, I would love to make some labels with your new bar code and stick them over all the products at our local shop. Watching the cashiers faces would be great fun.!!!
why bother with those little tags at all? Pretty much all these "rewards" programs link your phone # to your account and can use your # to pull up your account.
Hahaha! I just say I don't have a mobile phone because I have no idea what the number is. I just use a bog standard text and call flip phone anyway. I have a smart phone but it is in the back of a drawer somewhere.
