Yes, I have really took a 360 on the position of SOCIALISM, and now I have a new vision of what SOCIALISM means:

    http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3072291302771620276&q=capitalism

Watch it, unbelievable. SOCIALISM is just the coolest thing - Why work? Fuck this system. CAPITALISM sucks! I think we would do really well doing what we love, doing our hobbies, eating what we need to eat, doing your own work, ... a guy that LOVES astrology could create a band of others, and they can have the freedom to pursue the direction they want. Will there be chaos? At first, yes. But watch the video, he says that a decentralized DEMOCRACY would keep everything in line, Direct Democracy? http://ao.com.au/ddf/aki_orr_manifesto.htm Like this, perhaps?

Watch the video FIRST, don't just come here to bash SOCIALISM, just give the video a chance.

We wouldn't need money, we wouldn't need banks, we would pursue our own interests, ... it would be beautiful. Teacher's can teach, Scientists can pursue science, Mathematicians can pursue math, .. Just imagine how it would be! Let's just drop this stupid system, and I know my thread here means nothing, but atleast give the video a chance.

I meant as a hobby, asshole. They don't have to for a living, they can pursue their passions without any monetary restraints.

That had little to do with socialism. It was explaining how capitalism works. I kept watching for an entire hour, sure that the bit about socialism was coming up but... nope. You misleading bastard :)

A moneyless society is not a good idea. It is not money that is evil, it's the manipulation of money that is evil. If capitalism was abolished and a moneyless society was put in its place, we'd be well on our way back to capitalism. The people in control of the most important resource (food) would logically be the farmers who worked to produce it. Since everybody else needs food, they have power. There's your ruling class, right there.

The problem with capitalism is that it capitalises. The worker in the factory makes a pair of shoes that sells for $100, and they make 50 cents. Does that mean that money is to blame? No. The capitalists are to blame. The worker should be paid a much higher sum. This way, nobody's labor would be capitalised on; wealth would be decentralised. Now here's where money becomes good - if nobody is poor, and all people are making money relative to the value of their products, then money serves as a way to ensure that nobody ever uses more resources than they should.

For example, twenty people have a single dollar, pay for a day's work (no way would that ever be a day's wages, I'm just oversimplifying here ;) ). There are twenty meals available for purchase, each priced at a dollar. In the capitalist society, one person would have $19.00, and would be able to buy almost all of the meals if he/she wanted to. In the post-capitalist society, everybody can afford a meal. Nobody goes hungry. That's why money is necessary. It's a regulator to ensure that no ruling class comes into power again. Also, how much would it suck if we reverted to a barter economy?

You know: It feels like when I'm at your right, you're at my left - When I go far left, you take a rightwing stance :D just kidding. hm you should start a micronation, or maybe a commune. Everyone hates me here, so you'd have a better chance than me heh

Whether you support socialism or capitalism, both were given to us by the big banks. The banks control socialism and capitalism. It's all based on economics and money. Socialism is nothing more than dialectical materialism and a form of consolidated capitalism. Please educate yourself. Socialism equates to more government, so if you want the government ruling every aspect of your life (kind of like we see happening now), then by all means support the tyrants dream which is socialism. The problem with some of you is that you see socialism in the idealistic light in which it's sold to the masses by CAPITALIST INTERESTS, to get the masses to support socialism. But it's never the way it's portrayed. Bankers and politicians alike LOVE socialism because it means more power and control for them!

    Get a friggin' clue!

I wouldn't just blindly follow a socialist politician. This thread is a great example of the fact that everybody has a different idea of what socialism is. By its most basic definition, socialism is a system in which the means of production belong to the people using them, not to a man who paid for them and now exploits workers to make profit. However, I don't think that's enough. There need to be laws in place to ensure that we don't go back to where we were; laws which make capitalising (making an insane amount more than them and doing less labor) on somebody else impossible, whether they be in the US or not (law against selling goods made in other countries by workers whose workplace/wages arent good enough). This wouldn't necessarily make government bigger - worthless shit like the "war on drugs" could be left in the dust to fund the war on cappies. Even that is not enough to fix all of our problems. Socialist politicians are still politicians, and especially as time went on after any "revolution" of sorts, they would not deserve trust. Direct democracy would be a vital part of freedom, as it should be already. Representative government just doesn't work because representatives never represent the interests of the people. These two things (getting rid of capitalism and representative government) would change our lives so much for the better. Of course, we wouldn't be living in some work-free, money-free, everybody-is-always-happy dreamland like crud3 thinks but... let him dream :) Nobody else does.

Crud - I believe that you should keep coming back to these forums, not to preach, but to learn from some of these people. First thing to learn is that when you complete a '360'..... you end up where you started!
