I don't know what's up. It's just this sharp pain that has been there ever since I woke up. Anytime I expand my chest like when taking a breath or stretching it hurts even worse. It is on my left side right where my heart is. and it is not beating irregularly. Usually it will only hurt if I drink a Red Bull or just randomly for a short period of time. It's odd. It has never hurt this long. I hope it's growing pains, but the duration has me stumped. I recently stopped drinking cokes (day 11). Maybe something with that? Oh yeah, I also have been taking three percocets just about every friday. That sounds like the best reason, but why now after I haven't had any for 8 days? Would there be any danger in taking them tonight? Thanks.
Do you smoke? A lot of times smokers will have some random chest pain and it feels like the heart but it's really in the lungs. Or it could be the weather turning cold, or a number of things. I'll get chest pains sometimes for a day or so, usually goes away and seems to be nothing. The human body is such a complex thing. I wouldn't worry too much unless it continues for another day or so, unless your instincts tell you to act on it.
Drink more water and layy off of the percs... that can help. And eat healthy... that'll help also.. It also can be gas.
Maybe it's because I went psycho yesterday when I accidentally reset my phone and stressed my heart. I smoke occasionally, maybe three times a week when I buy a pack (I have one now). I'm pretty sure this is my heart and not my lungs though because it is only on my left side. It has been really cold here lately though. That could be it if it really does affect it. And I have been drinking lots of wa wa.
you can hurt in one of your lungs.. I had a lot of pain when i fractured my sternum, but I knew exactly why..
Yeah, you can. It made me think it might be a lung cause you said it also seems to hurt when you breath deep. Who knows though, could be a lot of things. Hope it feels better soon!
I'd say if it keeps bothering you for more then a day or two, or if it's really bothering you and you have a gut feeling that you should get it looked at then do it!
interesting. i have a similar situation right now. but its been present for about 5 months. think it was from lifting. went to the doc, got an EKG, showed nothing heart related. weight off my chest. go for a visit and complain about your heart so the insurance covers it cause it wont if you ask for one without cause . dont say sternum or anything. definitely get it checked out if you have insurance coverage..why not..i bet its nothing though.. no reason to freak out.
also, if you definitely think its your heart, usually its only a few dollars more to go to a specialist (cardiologist). well worth it b/c u wont pay twice (once at primary care doc for a referral, then for the specialist). money spent on heart health is always money well spent. especially for us smokers.
Definitely lung, got that before. A doctor told me that its something to do with people that smoke and the tar build up causing your lung to stick to your ribcage which makes breathing in extremely painful. If you just dont breathe in and expand your lungs then it should go after about 10 or 20 seconds of holding your breath.
I used to get that a lot it's a sharp pain like your sternum is stuck to something when you breathe out. It has not happened to me in a few years though. You just gotta take some deep breaths and let it work its way out.
It's not heart pain. Heart pain is felt in the middle of the chest, it would be like a pressure feeling. My doctor has told me before that if someone has a heart problem they WILL know somethings wrong.
If you were really having heart problems this would be you. It may seem like I'm trying to make jokes.... But I'm not. I thought I had a heart problem a while ago but that all went away. If you really had a heart problem you'd be dead already.
It didnt hurt last night when I took the percs. But it still hurts today even worse. I helped some friends of our family move and that didnt feel too well. I couldn't even use my left arm to turn the wheel because it hurt so bad. dude, since it's probably my lung, I don't want to go to the doctor with my mom and have the doctor ask if I smoke and I have to say yes. I just told her how bad it hurts and she wants to take me monday.....
I ended up going to the ER because the pain got so intense. It sucked so much. They ended up saying it was an inflammation of my chest wall. They prescribed me vicodin(hooray!) for pain and ibuprofen to stop swelling/pain. I feel much better now maybe because I have a peace of mind about it and I took some tylenol earlier. Yep.
Peace of mind AND vicodin? It would seem that you have poured yourself a tall glass of win, good sir.
Yesterday I was at my friends house and one of my buddies was like "my chest has been feeling weird lately" and then I was like "what does it feel like" And he though it was his heart hurting, he said it was a sharp pain. 4 of my friends have now told me this has happened to them. It's also happened to me. Now I'm 100% sure this happens to almost every guy around my age. When I told him it's happened to me before he was relieved. He said he thought he was having a heart attack once but he just scared himself into having an anxiety attack. It makes me feel more normal knowing this happens to lots of people.
yeah, i get it all duh time. not for really really long periods though. don't lay off the percocet, drive those fuckers into yer gut
