Aspiring rapper Kanyva, 21, from Pittsburg, Calif., was sentenced to 50 years in prison after being found guilty of shooting music promoter Shani Renee Holloway to death... The San Francisco Chronicle reports that Judge Mary Ann O’Malley concluded that the defendant, Juston Michael Potts, was, in fact, sane when he shot Holloway in the head twice on June 6, 2004. Potts had waived a jury trial and entered a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity. Police investigators believe that Potts was bitter after Holloway, who had previously agreed to help him with his career, expressed doubt about his prospects. Source: XXL I went to school with Bub and he was a friend of my brother and cousin. His auntie used to do my cousins hair and he used to rap with my little bro. My bro knew him since grade school, when he wanted to be in the NBA. From what I was told he broke when Shani said he was a wack rapper but, he only wanted to scare her when the gun went off. Pleading insanity is the last act of a desperate man and I think he should have stuck with the 1st story and at least try to get involuntary man slaughter. It's crazy what people are capable of isn't it? I still remember playing 4 square witth the boy.
does that loose association and 4 square game really qualify him as a friend? i mean, if you'd called him in the middle of the night because you had a flat tire in the middle of nowhere, would he come help you out? because it seems to me that's what qualifies as a friend. still, a crying shame about where his life went. i feel for his family, and the family of the person he shot.
I don't get it. You think that even though he shot a guy twice in the head that he should be set free because he is your friend? Agree with KC that he doesn't sound much like a friend... maybe he is a "used-to-be-friend" instead of a current day friend. I wonder why you never hear about country singers shooting music promoters in the head?
I love you. Hyphy, sucks that your friend was stupid enough to shoot someone, I'm sorry that he chose to do something like that.
It's sad to see all of these aspiring rappers trying to be gangsters and carrying guns around. Dumbasses.
I agree with monster, ya fuck up ya got to pay the piper. All these nig rap singers ( if you can call them singers ) deserve what they get.
I have had a 'bunch a packin bangers' as friends. Just because they are gangmembers doesn't mean they can't be good friends; and good people, in some cases. That was the wrong reason to shoot someone, though, I agree.
good people don't threaten people with guns, or even carry them in my opinion end someones innocent life and pay for it, there is not excuse when you are not being threatened with your own demise you kids need to think about the meaning of life, sory to sound like a dad, but that is just pathetic a gun does not make you tough, a gun is what you would use if you were not tough and threatening and killing a woman with a gun? never an excuse
So there's no reason a person should carry a gun? Some people don't last long without some sort of weapon, given their living conditions and environments.
In my opinion, no there is not, and I have lived in plenty of tough areas one friend of mine explained why he needed one growing up, he grew up in south central LA and a gang moved into his backyard and threatened his mom, is that something you have experienced? or have you simply immersed yourself in a bad culture looking up to the wrong people? live by the gun, die by the gun
Bad culture? What culture is that? Some people carry guns for the wrong reasons and are just trying to impress or hurt people; Others carry guns because certain situations call for it. If you lived in an area where people are robbed and shot regularly for no reason, would you not carry a gun? I know I would, and have. I would never use a gun without good reason, but it's ignorant, in my opinion, to say that there is no need for anyone to carry a gun, regardless of their circumstances. Good people don't need protection?
I have been robbed at gunpoint, if I had pulled a gun i would be dead now a bad culture is one that glorifies violence, one where questioning a persons bullshit rap skills leads to someone getting killed
