my first robo trip!!

so since its my fisrt time i started with a real low dose plus i take antidepresants and your not really suppose to take them while on those. but anywho.... i took 16 of the gel caps with 15mgs dxm. so thats 250mgs total. how long does it usually take for the gel caps to kick in> and what kinda effects do you think ill get from this dose?

 

Possibly none if you're on SSRI's. I don't know about DXM specifically, but they effect dosage or ability to trip for many psychs with some people. Also, there could be an effect of combining the 2 that's different than either alone.

 

Well, in about an hour or so you should start to feel really sick, your skin will start to turn very white, remember, this is only your liver failing due to you mixing DXM with anti depressants. in about 2 hours you should be sitting in a hospital bed, by then the your liver will be so gone... you'll be dead

 

ive taken like 300mg and it was a good trip, not very intense but i just felt like really happy and stuff. i hated coming up though, it was really uncomfortable. it probably took like an hour maybe, maybe a little more, i dont really remember

 

gel caps take a while to kick in, an hour at least.

250mg isn't that high a dose, expect to have some motor problems, euphoria, your vision might get a liiiiitle bit choppy but nothing major. i usually feel a little bit of disconnection/dissociation at that dose. music will sound really good.

what anti depressants are you on? i would NOT advise you to take DXM with most antidepressant drugs, that can be extremely dangerous. not to scare you but really that's something you just shouldn't do. basically what mr dot said.

there is actually some validity to that.

seratonin syndrome? your body loses its ability to regulate itself, your body temperature, heart rate and many other functions will begin to fluctuate violently. but this is dependent on what exact medication is being taken, like i have heard that dxm and lexapro are *relatively* safe but not suggested.

it IS a pretty low dose of DXM so there shouldn't be any major problems. you may have more physical side effects than normal though like more skin flushing, itching, etc.

to the OP, do more research before trying new stuff. this could be very dangerous, if you would've taken more you might just be dead. just be careful next time!

 

when i was on prozac, i tripped on 300mgs (this was before i knew not to mix ssris and dxm).

i had a good trip and nothing bad happened. if your trying to take ssris the same time you do dxm, i think thats dangerous. but if you decide not to take them for the day you trip, you should be fine.

i cant say i speak for everyone but sometimes the horror stories i hear about drugs make me laugh.

 

if she was on effexor or cymbalta, (just naming a few), skipping one day could land her in the hospital.

 

doesnt it also depend on how long shes been taking them?

like for example, if she started cymbalta on monday, and then decided to skip a dose on thursday, would that suddenly send her to the hospital?

it prolly sounds like a stupid question but alot of times i find the most obvious answer is the wrong answer.

 

uhmm no, it only applies if she has been taking them for a little stretch of time, say maybe a month or a couple months.

My bro n law had this happen to him. He had been taking effexor for a few months, his prescription ran out while he was outta town, long story short; He collapsed on spot, they thought he was going to die from a heart attack or something, he's fine though now, he was in horrible condition until they hospital finally gave him the damn med. He quit taking it though.

Depression medication can be good, but they're fucking DANGEROUS.

so after taking it a week, yes she can skip a dose and be fine.

 

i did research it and i know your not suppose to take it on antidepressants, which is why i started out with a low dose. im taking a generic for welbutrin. its been almost an hour and im not really feeling anything yet so well see. i kinda dont really care if i end up in the hospital anyways although i perfer not to lol. but i dont think thatll happen with this low a dose

ohhh wellbutrin that's an entirely different story i thought you were talking about SSRIs

i would just wait it out if i were you... if for some reason 250mg of DXM isn't doing anything, taking the last 50mg won't make you trip. 250 is an okay first time dose, and it should kick in at some point.

you did take gelcaps, and if you ate them on a full stomach you might have to wait a while for the come up. but it should work.

 

If it was me, I'd just chalk up a win for not having a bad reaction and investigate further about drug interractions with Welbutrin before trying it or something else again.

Isn't Welbutrin also marketed under a different name for Nicotine withdrawal? It may not have quite as many issues as some other anti-depressants then.

 

^it's also a dopamine/norepinephrine receptor agonist approved for depression. it has nothing to do with the seratonin system. i think i have heard some reports of wellbutrin having a tendency to increase the effects of a lot of drugs but i'm not sure.

but yeah OP i just looked back at the times, you only dosed about 40 minutes ago. you definitely got time, just be patient and enjoy.

i took them on an empty stomach but im starting to feel a little different now...i hope it gets stronger thatn this cuz i barely feel any different....thanks everyone!
