I'm going to my first rainbow family gathering in October at the Shawnee national forest in Illinois. I was just wondering if any of you fine people would be going as well, and alslo like what to prepare myself for I guess you could say, I've done the whole woodsy commune type thing at festivals but I know this is different and if there's any major things I should bring that I might not think of, also who to, maybe, avoid? Although I don't like using this word I do realize with any large group of any type of people there are gonna be those rotten apples. Anyways, any info would be stellar
OK, O-BS, I bet it can't have babies or raise the spirits of dead Roman Centurions, either, but what does it do?
Well I have not done a gathering in some time but a couple pounds of rice or some potatos is always welcome at one of the kitchens. Lots of water some food for yourself, maybe a drum or something along those lines. O-BS might be on to something with those death camp kids running around, good shot of that goes along way. Depending on how you view alcohol you may wish to avoid A-Camp if booze isnt your thing.
Yeah I've heard about that, and trust me, got the mace covered!!!! I've hear about a-camp and once agin, I'm good on all that nonsense. Thanks for the guidance on the potatoes and rice, they now are on my list. I'm also bringing a male compaion, for protection purposes, heard that's a biggie as well.
Mostly people will not rip you off, but there are def. people who will do that at gatherings. Don't bring anything that will break your heart to loose. You don't need cash at the gatherings, except to put in the magic hat, so don't carry more with you than you need. A flash light is one of the critical items to bring along. If it's going to rain while you are there, a tarp to cover your tent. It will probably get cold around that time, so make sure you will be warm enough, especially at night. Bring some food and water. There should be both at the gathering, but in case the kitchens aren't serving, or for whatever reason it's good to have. Bring blissware (cup, bowl, spoon) have fun!
a good place to check out the "raps" (suggestions) would be welcome home . org Have fun,,,be safe. Blessings
