My first experience with mushrooms

I was on Koh Phangan in Thailand the night before the full moon party. On this island is a fantastic, wonderful, amazing bar. Found this short vid of the view on youtube. So this bar is basically built on top of a viewpoint, and most of the bar area has no roof. Fortunately there are lots of cushions and pillows. The interesting thing about this place is that they sell doobies and "special shakes."

So I rented a scooter and went up to Amsterdam Bar by myself, in search of a couple spliffs and maybe some new friends. The climb to the bar is pretty tough, and as I was resting my lungs I had a good look at the awesome view. Bought my joint, looked around, a-ha! A table with a perfect view, two girls just sat down at it. So I said hi, and sat with them. It was getting dark at this point, but this was the night before full moon. There was a thin layer of clouds, and the moonlight could only penetrate so far through it. So in a perfect circle around the moon you could see where the moonlight stopped, and it looked like a halo around the moon. It was amazing.

The girls were from South Africa, cool young chicks. It was their first time with mushrooms, and they insisted I have a shake too. After about 30 seconds I finally caved in to their demands, and ever since I've been just a little bit happier. As the mushrooms were kicking in, we were on our backs looking at the sky. Clouds were racing across, looking like they were about to swallow the moon, taking on the shapes of dragons, wolves, serpents and other great shapes. But the moon would always keep shining.

We went on in our journey, exchanged great stories, some really personal stuff, really connected, and it was just a really good vibe, holding hands, laughing, sharing the experience. One of them had her trip go a little bad, but nothing serious. Me and the other chick talked for some time, and I eventually noticed the high wearing off. It had been going for probably 3 or 4 hours, felt like much more. The girl who had her trip go a little bad, eventually came to and, face full of disbelief, went "Jimmy?! Are you real? You're still here?"

I've tried shrooms only a couple of times after this, and they were nowhere near as potent. But the experience definitely opened my eyes to psychedelics, and I predict many similar great times in the future.
