Yesterday, I blamed my neighbours for a mark on my doorstop, that, I just found out was of my own making,a nd feel to guilty about it to apologise for it, which makes me even more guilty.
I heard them laugh, as I stooped low to clean my own doorstep day in an day out, and thought they were mocking me. I also have a slight prejudice towards Poles, I am not proud of, because they can be a real dick to us black poeple.
I found the exact same mark that was on my doorstep, in my kitchen, where I put my garbage bag for too long without throwing it out, and realised the mark was caused by my putting the bag before my doorstep, before closing the door, and throwing it into the garbage bin. Now th neighbours are exra quiet, after being very loud, because they probably think I am the kind of scheming neighbour trying to pick on them, which are the kind of bullying neighbours I used to hate with a passion. Gosh I'm such a dick.
they were mocking you because normal people almost never clean their doorstep...... do you honestly know the origins of every mark in your home?.......I might mock you too...... say ''mark mock'' 3 times really fast......
I was thinking about that, because I had a gigantic cake, in my cupboard, that I am really trying to bring up the confidence to give to them. Rollingalong, I had the impression that people thought I was a bit cooky for making that complaint. To this day I never even got the call back I was promised, for which I am thankful as well as uneasy about.
That cake is there for a reason. If they can't let bygones be bygones after a nice cake, then perhaps you are already on appropriate terms.
Probably better giving them a pack of beer too. Dont worry too much rac... You may find it was all worth it.
False is the key word. You stated this yourself. The only way to make amends is to make amends. I often leave positive poems in the mail boxes of my worst enemies. Many of them have become quite friendly (as a result). All it takes is a few kind words. Never forget that anger begets anger (as kindness begets kindness). It all sounds so trite and simple, but it is very true to life. Wishing you much good luck
