I planted corn in my garden this summer, I have 4 rows of about 20-25 plants. Yesterday for a period of about a half hour it rained and was kind of windy, I didn't think much of it at the time, but later on in the day I noticed that all of my corn blew over! I am so disappointed! I was looking forward to home grown corn more than anything else that I planted. My question is this, has this happened to anyone else? Do you think it will perk back up, or should i go out there and stand each plant up and pack dirt around the base of the stalk? Will that even do any good?

That sucks. If the stalks aren't broken you could try standing them back up and put a string around them for support.

Unless it's completely uprooted it should be just fine.

thanks for the replies. i think i'll try to put a stake at each end of the rows and tie a rope around the row, i think that will work good.

yeah hill dirt around the bottom (usually works no matter what you were told), if that dont work staking them like you were told will work..

as has been said as long as the stalks are not broke they will be fine.

well i got them all staked back up, i think they're gonna be fine, doesnt seem like the stalks were broken. the funny thing is, my beans were vining all over the corn, and the day before this happened i said to hell with these beans and tore them all off the corn, if i would've left them alone they probably would have held the corn up! i'm kinda new at this gardening stuff.
