Ever since I moved in several months ago, my boyfriends dog, Marley has been a hell dog. She was an okay dog to begin with, i played with her and she didnt annoy me. Well since its been a while, shes been just making me mad every day. Now shes very very needy, she'll look for attention in the worst ways. She will eat and chew up my feminine needs products and have them all over the floor, she will chew up my underwear when im not around. She does these things constantly. I tried sympathizing with her and playing with her but she still does them. She chews up the garbage outside, barks and growls at the neighbor kids, people walking by, she runs off somewhere, I call her, she wont listen. She beats up on Max, his other dog, which he causes NO problems. Eats his food, plays really rough with him, and growls when eating. She will whine and bark what seems to be "orders" at me for when she wants out or anything. I yell at her doing that but doesnt help. When i get mad and yell, she growls and shows her teeth. I want to smack the shit out of her when she does that but I Dont. She roams around looking for things to chew up and she stares at me non stop. Laying down, sitting, and its a stare of almost hate. She will lay next to my boyfriend and put her head on his arm, next to me and just stare at me like a "ha ha" stare. Has a strong jealousy issue with me My boyfriend will say you just gotta play with her, give her attention, blah blah I DID do that, I tried not to have a disliking for her, but through everything, its hard to like her now, very hard She snapped on people before, kids too. Im worried because in a year or so, I do want to have a kid, I dont know how shes going to react to that because she barks and growls at every little sound.. My boyfriend and I have different views. I say if a dog is 5 yrs old and getting worse, give them away. No use wasting time and fighting over a dog He doesnt want to do that. Thats "his baby" so i deal with her and just try my best not to argue. I did tell him if she ever does bite me, you gotta give her to the ex or something cause im not dealing with a dog like that again. I dont know what to do with this situation, anyone dealing with somEthing like this?
I think it is crunch time but clearly you need to make your BF accept the situation is worse than he is aware of.
you need to borrow a way bigger meaner dog and bring the way bigger meaner dog to the house and terrorize marley a little....your boyfriend will never know keep repeating SEE SEE SEE! as you terrorize him and then every time you say SEE he will run like the little home wrecker that he is i also suggest you rub something like an old purse all over the big mean dog and hang it on your bed post to frighten little marley into submission
start hiding bacon in yoiur boyfriends shoes and athletic gear and rub bacon on his favorite hat...he will soon toss that mutt back to the exe i have loads miore ideas too
It sounds like the 2 of you need to quit being freakin' lazy and train the damn dog. A dog isn't going to get better on its own even if it's 10 years old. Age doesn't matter..sure an older dog will be calmer, but it will still have the same shitty habits if you don't train them out of it. Don't know how to train a dog? Hire a trainer.
^yeah,^ i think the dog is trying to assert dominance over you, and yeah is probly jealous. w/ the way the dog is growling at the other dog, it is trying to be the dominant member of the family. YOU are IT'S bitch.
lol first of all,im not lazy. Second, I beat her with a shoe on her face, im scared she will grab and lock on to my hand. Shes a pit bull mixed. Max is pit bull. I hate that she picks on him. Hes a great dog. Believe me I whoop her ass when she gets in trouble. I dont really hit her when my boyfriend is around cause then i gotta hear him bitch how "no wonder why she dont get along with you" and makes me feel like the bad guy. Then he babys her and calls her a good girl, not after she gets in trouble. but just calls her a good girl. and shes not. shes a spoiled brat and shes not getting her way now. if i brought a bigger dog, she'd fight him. she doesnt give a shit. Shes a true bitch but needy and doesnt listen. shes doing this more and more since his sister moved in, then i came along. she doesnt like the females. wants ALL The attention and then some. I dont give her any of it and thats when she does all this.
the question here is how could you stay with a dude that says ''goody girl'' to a dog i might consider beating my son if i heard him say that
I am sorry to be the one to say this but if she is a American Pit Bull Terrier mix and is trying to bite people you need to have her put down.I love my American Pit Bull Terriers more then any other breed in the world I would never own another bleed of dog.Having said that there is no room for human aggression when it comes to American Pit Bull Terrier.
im not moving on to any guy. thanks. yeah shes a pit that i dont trust. i think there is something mentally wrong with her. like tonight, we shoo'd her away so me and my boyfriend can talk and hang out on the bed and she was in the living room chewing up tissue, I hit her a couple times and she snarled and growled at me. i dont mean to sound like a bitch but i hope something happens so that he can see marley is retarded. she ate half of my candy bar which was chocolate off the counter. i hope that is lesson learned later!
You hope something happens... Wow your fucking stupid do you not understand she can kill something or someone. You and your man are irresponsible American Pit Bull Terrier owners . You have not trained your dog and now it is aggressive and may hurt someone . You do understand that your boyfriend can be put in jail if she does anything. Do you even own a break stick? Just encase she bites something you need to get her off. Also the whole locking jaw thing is just a myth.
Pit Bulls have locking jaws." The jaws of the Pit Bull are functionally the same as the jaws of any other breed, and this has been proven via expert examination. The few studies which have been conducted of the structure of the skulls, mandibles and teeth of Pit Bulls show that, in proportion to their size, their jaw structure and thus its inferred functional morphology, is no different than that of any [other] breed of dog. There is absolutely not evidence for the existence of any kind of ’locking mechanism’ unique to the structure of the jaw and/or teeth of the American Pit Bull Terrier, says Dr. I. Lerh Brisbin of the University of Georgia (from the ADBA booklet, “Discover the American Pit Bull Terrier. “Pit Bulls ‘turn’ on their owners.” Dogs, as a species, do not perform behaviors “just because”. There are always reasons for behavior, and when aggression becomes a problem the reasons can be such things as improper handling, lack of socialization or training, a misreading of dog behavior by the owner, or, rarely, disease. Aggression, when it presents in pet dogs, follows specific patterns. First occur warning signs, then more warning signs, and finally, when those signs are continually ignored or misinterpreted, the dog resorts to using its teeth. When an owner is startled by a sudden, aggressive outburst, it is because they have been unaware of problems that were brewing. This is true of all dogs, not just Pit Bulls. Pit Bulls, indeed no dogs, “turn” on their owners. “The brains of Pit Bulls swell and cause them to go crazy”. Prior to the boom in Pit Bull popularity, the Doberman Pinscher was rumored to suffer from an affliction of the brain in which the skull became too small to accommodate a dog’s grey matter. This would, according to the rumor, cause the Doberman to go crazy, or “just snap” out of no where and attack their owner. This rumor could never be quantified, and indeed had no merit whatsoever. Now that the Doberman fad has run its course the Pit Bull has inherited the swelling brain myth. It is no truer now than it was during the Doberman’s fad days.
No you misread me. I Meant something that happens TO HER not other people. I almost killed her when she started barking at the neighbors kids playing. and it was a violent bark. like ill kill her if she bit at a kid I told my boyfriend that something will happen if you dont train her. he said she never did this before and i told him well you might have a lawsuit coming if you dont do something. she doesnt like being hit or trapped or yelled at. I dont actually know where he got marley at but it was probably some mean dogs and they didnt want her because max is a pit but hes a dog from heaven and he got him from a friend that had a liter. so i dont know if there is something mentally wrong with her or she is a very needy bitchy dog
This seems the case unfortunately. So I'm afraid this can be normal behaviour for an untrained dog. It really needs to be trained.. and the owner(s) needs to be trained too as has been revealed in every episode of the Dog whisperer a dog reacts to your non verbal communication. So she knows kind of how you feel about her (angry, fear, etc. Probably not a nuanced opinion ) when she's around you. But if you try to show a different attitude and calmer and neutral body language on a regular basis it seems you can often change the dog's state of mind too. Which in turn makes it more easy to discipline her.
