    Without music, life would be a mistake!

    Music is my passion! :) I love it so much, I couldn't live without it... I'd like to know what's everyone's favorite types of music, and favorite artists/bands/singers/etc. A way to know each other better, also, I didn't want to leave the new Europe forum like this, without 1 music thread at least! :p

    So, as some of you might know already (if you've been here for at least 2 years!), I'm a huge Beatles fan... I'm into all kinds of rock, from British invasion to psychedelia to hard-rock, to punk-rock, to prog-rock... also pop music BUT not shit dance-pop or commecial songs that were created with artificial instruments on a computer and with the same stupid lyrics that weren't even writen by the singer but by a specialist who spends his/her life writing songs for stupid teens and give them to people like Britney Spears... I mean stuff from the 60's-70's of course and also from today, like, for example, Blur... I'm also into folk music, soul, blues, jazz, classical, and some experimental stuff. To name all the artists I'm a fan of would take me an hour, but I make a top 10 of my favorites at the moment:

    * The Beatles (+ solo careers, especially Lennon and Wings)
    * The Rolling Stones
    * Pink Floyd
    * Jimi Hendrix
    * Janis Joplin
    * Bob Dylan
    * The Doors
    * The Who
    * Led Zeppelin
    * The Velvet Underground

    As for modern bands, my favorite at the moment are the Strokes, I'm such a huge fan of their last album, Room On Fire -

    My Top Ten is:

    - The Byrds
    - The Who
    - The Mamas and Papas
    - Scott McKenzie
    - Bob Dylan
    - Jimi Hendrix
    - Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
    - Cat Stevens
    - The Doors
    - Simon&Garfunkel

    I don't like most of todays music... stupid music, stupid lyrics, no message, only money.

    Just like the rest of you, I listen to a lot of different stuff. I love folk music, especially the Balkan kind (with emphasis on gypsy orchestras), but when it comes to pinning down a few favourite bands, I'll stick to more 'conventional' bands:

    1) Joy Division
    2) Sixteen Horsepower

    (no particular order):

    Bob Dylan
    Tindersticks
    Slowdive
    Dead Can Dance
    Siddharta
    bob hund
    Johnny Cash
    Skinny Puppy
    Cranes
    Stina Nordenstam
    Lisa Germano
    Scheer
    etc.......

    peace

    NIN
    Placebo
    The Doors
    Nirvana
    RATM
    Deftones
    Berri Txarrak
    Ktulu

    and many more, but they are too much... it's great to listen to very different music styles.

    The Beatles
    The Stones
    Floyd
    Can
    Velvets
    Hendrix
    Soft Machine
    Dylan
    Nick Drake
    Doors

    This is in no order at all, and anyway, lot's of these would make it into my top 20 but probably not top 10 if I sat down and thought about it for an hour. I exclude so many important ones. Oh well, that's life.

    I like 60's pop, I like the avant-garde/expiramental scene of the 60's and 70's (Velvets to CAN to Gong to Zappa etc. for those not clear), rock (many kinds) soul, jazz and more more more.
