Looks like we need to reinstate the subforums. There is so much activity here, most posts disappear too quickly and duplicates are everywhere. Also by having subforums we increase the visibility of the music forums on the search engines.

So please start placing your posts in the appropriate subforums.

    Thanks!

And the 80s weren't all about big hair.. there should be something for 'classic' alternative a la The Replacements, Jane's Addiction, REM, Jesus & Mary Chain, Game Theory, Camper Van Beethoven, Husker Du, The Minutemen, The Smiths, The Cure and all that jangle-pop/neo-psych/power-pop world.

yes, there was a lot of activity, and that's why the forums were so awesome and why a lot of people came. if you wanted to find the new threads, you only had to go back a page or 2..

i'm pretty sure that this place is going to get less visitors/new threads because people won't want to have to dig through each and every subforum for new posts. i know i wont. :p

I'll be honest and say my first impression when logging in this morning and seeing the sub-forums back again was, "ohh no.."

I shall give it fair chance again though, see how it goes... [IMG]

    i totaly disagree
i've never posted in the music forum cause frankly i never saw anything in it that interested me in the slightest, untill today when i started posting here
i was getting so sick of the "what are you listening to now" thread always being on page 1 when u click new posts
now its much easier to find stuff your actualy interested in

that is the exact same thing I said.

this is just too confusing for this forum.

I remember, the last time it was implemented, it slowed down the traffic to a crawl...... hardly anyone posted.

Old-Time music is sometimes mistakenly referred to as Bluegrass, but actually it's a different category. It is also sometimes called Appalachian Mountain Music, but Old-Time is what it's usually called. It predates bluegrass (a term that people began using for the type of music played by Bill Monroe & the Blue Grass Boys beginning in the 1940's). There's some discussion of Old-Time in this thread:
    http://hipforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=102524

I realize Old-Time music is probably too esoteric to have its own catergory, and the closest category is probably Country & Bluegrass. But it would be really nice to have that category called Country, Bluegrass, & Old-Time. These three types of music are related in a way, but are quite distinct from each other, and I know there is interest here in all three.

There needs to be a sub-forum just for water_baby to talk to himself about Foghat or Styx or whoever he's into now.
