I am reading an amazing book called "The Secret Life Of Plants" The book outlines all of the experiments that were done in the '70's by scientists who hooked up lie dectectors to plants and measured their reactions to all sorts of stimuli. One of the chapters deals with playing classical music to plants and claims that it increases general health, seed production and growth. I started playing some to the girls last night and I noticed that the leaf stems on 2 of the plants were tilting the leaves upwards (opposite of the drop leaves you see with wilting) at at least 45 degrees up. Have any of you experimented with music and your plants? I only have 3 females on the go at the moment so I didn't isolate one as a control. If it looks positive I think I'll try it on my ailing clones.

    Cheers, Rufus

That book fooled/amused a lot of folks.
But everyone soon found out that none of the claims could be backed up.
In other words, it was made-up.
Instead of being based on scientific fact, it was based instead on P.T. Barnum's There's A Sucker Born Every Minute.

Plants have no ears, or brain to process music.
I have read several studies that claimed that certain types of music benefit plant growth, but the type of music that the person claimed worked was always different.
People who liked classical music said classical music worked best, people who liked rock said rock worked best, etc.

Singing (or talking) to your plants helps, because people exhale CO2.
Other than that, I don't think music does any good.

I watched myth busters the other day and apparently playing heavy metal music to plants helps more than any other music style.
