Psilocybin Mushrooms are in reality a larger moleculer version than DMT. Just like 5-MeO-DMT. Look at the molecules;

    Original spirit molecule:2-(1H-indol-3-yl)-N,N-dimethyltryptamine

    5-MeO-DMT: 2-(5-methoxy-1H-indol-3-yl)-N,N-dimethyltryptamine

    Psilocybin mushrooms: 4-Phosphoryloxy-N,N-dimethyltryptamine

    What does this mean for mushrooms? Are mushrooms a greater or lesser manifestation of DMT?

    dmt is normal dmt.
    mushrooms have:
    psilocin is 4-HO-DMT
    psilocybin is 4-HO-DMT phosphate ester
    most people already knew this.

    What I'm trying to say is ......doesn't this all mean that the mushroom trip is just apart of a greater DMT grid. Haven't you heard Joe Rogan?

    I see what you are getting at here. A diagram of the molecular structures of DMT and psilocybin are remarkably similar since both are tryptamines...

    I have never taken Ayahuasca or DMT so I do not have experiential evidence to compare against the mushroom experience.

    I think there's some credence at least to saying that on a quantum level the DMT dimension is probably more similar to psilocybin dimension then that of everyday reality but I don't think that they are derivatives of the same thing. Maybe instead that they utilize similar “molecular lenses” if you will. Tryptamines are common in hallucinogenic compounds across the board. Serotonin is a tryp and tryps are also parts of other compounds such as LSD and ibogaine.

    If your in the mood here is an essay by Terence McKenna (expert in psilocybin and DMT) about the interrelatedness of these compounds. http://deoxy.org/t_thc.htm

    Agreed!

    I'll be the second to admit (Terence being the first) that some of his theories like Time Wave Zero and his early musings on the origin of the psilocybin mushroom are out there to the point of possibly ludicrious. But you have to admire someone who has the courage to suppose such things and the centeredness to maintain a humourous self image as well as a criticical mindset even in regard to his own ideas. His insights into the human condition and the pending global catastophe are beyond value. He should be the cornerstone of research to any person serious about psychedelics or psychedelic shamanism.

    I've got more from listening to his old tape recordings made at events, retreats and seminars over the years then from some trips.

    Thanks for that wonderful article. What does Terence McKenna think of AMT vs other tryptamines? I'm going to read and see whether he mentions it as well.
