maybe you're just learning your first lesson from tripping. that the world isn't all rainbows and butterflies, that our society is fucked, etc etc

maybe your 2nd lesson will be to replace that hate with love

I can't love it. I'm being mentally raped by consumerism. Advertising is effecting me rather i pay attention to them or not, and if they dont impact me they impact enough people to start a chain reaction. I want to kill myself from the things i've learned in my Sociology 101 class.

You have to explore these new realizations past the point of what is on the surface. The surface is that society, consumerism, advertising, its all a fraud. What is below that surface is what really matters.

Society sucks but that doesn't mean life sucks. Life is beautiful. Turn off your tv and go meditate on nature. That is what is real.

haha but seriously this is normal psychedelic-catalyzed angst, you should trip again in a while after you've digested this new view of the world nice and long and hard.

I recommend educating yourself on the universe, multiverses, string theory, parallel universes. Understanding that the earth is tiny in relation to everything else that is out there will make you realize that what you hate isn't all that important anyways.

As a sociology major, I know exactly how you feel. I got sucked in deep. I was reading everything critical of civilization. Then I read Derrick Jensen and got even more depressed and nihilistic. (He is the best in my opinion however when it comes to breaking down everyone's assumptions about civilization, but damn is he a downer).

If you want to "read till your eyes bleed" I suggest reading something that is positive and solution oriented (instead of negative and problem focused). I recomend reading about permaculture, transition towns, intentional communities etc. Read Charles Eisenstien, Rob Hopkins, Bill Mollison, Daniel Quinn etc.

Focus on making the world a better place, and not on how crappy the world is presently.

I agree with Meliai. If you think about it deeply our whole planet is just so small compared to what else is out there. Just research things you personally find interest in. For example if you like skateboarding (much like myself), research the physics of skateboarding. It's all the more interesting when you find out more information about something you truly enjoy.

Not very long ago I was in the same place.
You despise society to the point where it drives you crazy. Just be glad you're not blind to these things. You can laugh at the people who are ;)
Remember there are many things worth living for, and not all of our society is a hideous heap of shit.

    Very true.

Society is a disgusting abomination of community, I know when I came to the realization it actually managed to boost my ego and I spent the next year looking down on everyone. It was about a year after that that I was beginning to accept that this "knowledge" and "understanding" I have gained from the counter-culture lifestyle and use of psychedelic drugs is actually irrelevant to the society I look down on.
Like the world is trapped in this "maze" per se and while I'm free to roam the outside and laugh at the poor rats stumbling around inside, that's where all the cheese is and I'm left out here to starve.

Ah well I'm only 20 and have a lot of life to live, and if all else fails I have learned to enjoy other things in life

^^i doubt you live as outside of it as you think.

psychedelics can serve to weaken your ego, and help you gain some compassion and understanding for your fellow humankind

Society is a very small part of life. Just endure it, it's not everything.

It was just an analogy, I'm not trying to convince anyone that I'm on a different mental level than everyone else or something, if that's the impression you got... I just feel that the insights I've gained have not been very useful as of yet (in ways my parents, friends, society, deem advantageous), although I know how important they are to me and wouldn't give them up for anything.
