What is the best museum you have been to? I have been to museums all over the country but still have not found my way to the Smithsonian Kind of disappointing
The list would be too long but here are a few: The Smithsonian Museum of Natural History, DC; The Field Museum, Chicago; American Museum of Natural History, NYC; The Metropolitan Museum of Art, NYC; The Yale Peabody Museum, New Haven, Connecticut Hotwater
the smithsonian has some awesome museums. also, as hotwater mentioned, the field museum in chicago is pretty great. i really liked the big one i went to in toronto. i forget what it's called
I like the MOMA in san fran and the MOCA in LA. I really like mid century modern california art, sculpture and furniture. It's abotu the only thing I collect and I love getting ideas from the above museums.
It's a toss up between the Omniplex in Oklahoma City and the Science Place in Dallas. Well, apparently the Science Place is now the Museum of Nature and Science. Anyway, yeah, when I try to remember back on them, I really can't remember which one was which, lol. But I know I loved them both...and the one in Dallas is in Fair Park and has this absolutely beautiful outdoor garden area and you can see so much of Fair Park out there. It's gorgeous.
Or let some sucker pay for admission then watch the video on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrj67PXOXy4 Hotwater
I almost forgot, my favorite museum that is not a science museum is the Boomtown Museum in the town 15 miles away. They have a medical exhibit that I just fucking love. Most of the stuff in it belonged to my childhood physician and I remember some of that stuff decorating his office. My fascination with medicine began at a very very early age.
I don't know if it counts, but visiting a concentration camp turned museum was probably the most significant museum experience I've had.
the Denver Art Museum has had a Psychedelic Experience thing going on, and I need to eat some mushrooms and get out there! this thread reminded me.
i loved COSI as a child. i went again when i was in highschool and it sucked. if i have to pay to get in, i'll never go back. that said, last time i went to the Royal Ontario Museum i loved it so much i went twice in the same vacation, admission fees be damned. i saw an awesome henry moore exhibit there,
cosi has one of those centrifuge things where the floor drops out and youre stuck to the wall. they also have a tightrope bicycle ride.
lol, so do most hayseed carnivals and state fairs:cheers2: don't get me wrong, i loved the old cosi as a little kid, and i would love the new one if i was a kid, too. maybe its because i went shortly after the new location opened up. it was still pretty new. but i didn't enjoy it very much at all.
I liked the War Museum and the Aviation Museum in Ottawa. Be warned, the War museum will take you all day, there is a lot of war to learn about...
