Does anyone know an economical way to mow / achieve stripes on a garden lawn. I would like my lawn looking like a soccer pitch / golf course / baseball outfield. Thanks in advance.

I Think You Just Mow One Way....Then Spin Around And Go Back.......Every Time I Mow The 5 Acres Here

I Do In A Different Way......Not To Achieve Stripes.....But To Relieve Bordom......Two Days Ago I Did

It That Way And This Morning I Noticed The Stripes You Speak Of.......:smilecat:

    Cheers Glen.

PS:- Another Reason For The Stripes Is They Use "Rotary Mowers".

There’s a kit you can buy that attaches onto your gas powered lawn mower

A roller. Simplicity decks have one but you could make one to pull behind too.

Rotating cylinder mowers are the key.

Jane tried to stripe our lawn once and it looked as if she was drunk.
Needless to say I made fun of her efforts, so now I have to mow the lawn.
Silly me,!!!... I should have learnt my lessons by now. :worried::worried:

yeah, this is the simplest way to do it. a zero turn mower helps with that, although you can make due without.

All you do is cut your lanes at different heights.

I have never heard of a zero turn mower, that a serious thing, people specifically buy that type of mower so they dont have to turn them?

I dont do much manual labour though

The simplest way, is to cut the grass at different lengths :p
do one lane, take the mower up 2 notches and do a lane, knock it back down

"Zero Turn Mowers" Are The One's You See With No Steering Wheel......Just Two Hand Controls

Just Like Driving A Bulldozer Or Bobcat.....You Don't Steer The Front Wheels......You Only

Control The Rear Wheels......And The Front Wheels Are Free To Do Their Own Thing...... :D

    Cheers Glen.

Thanks for the tips everyone. Unfortunately a cylinder mower is beyond budget. Might just have to try different heights for now.

it turns, the point is it turns on a dime instead of having to do a wide circle or three point turn. they're great for mowing around obstacles, plus they are typically faster even on a straight line.
