Heya guys!Ive a suggestion to ask u..Im not aussie(its write near my avatar but u can understand it also reading my english :H )..anyway ive a great passion for ur country and I'm planning to move there the next year. I'd like study in an art institute and find a part-time job. Ive already listen some associations but Id like hear something by people whom live there, just for curiosity... Above all in Melbourne..but the other ones too(btw some people has advised me the CATC in Sidney) what kind of school are there, and above all Id like know about musical scene....because its my main passion(and I have to say I love a lot of bands from aus ) In short...everything you think I should know
Good for you SF! you won't have any trouble getting into art and music here in either citiy. It seems the hardest thing is just deciding between sydney and melbourne! Brisbane in Queensland also has a very strong art community and opportunities for artists.
John Howard? He's the Australia's prime minister, right?Mmmm I don't know much about him...but just for what ive read i think id really like help u Anyway I'm waiting for someone who live in Melbourne and can tell me something about it
I don't live in Melbourne, and I probably never will. Maybe in the hinterland ..... but I doubt it coz I don't like the way Victoria is in the governing department. There we go, personal opinions. South Australia is good ..... so is Queensland. Tasmania is good too but some areas (such as Ulverstone) are full of people who are classed as "inbreds." There is a sense of communtiy in Tasmanian cities. I'm not going to give anymore opinions just in case I offend someone
I suggest looking at Ausralian websites and searching things like the music scene, universities etc. Melbourne, the capital of Victoria, is known as the culture centre of Australia. It has heaps of concerts, music etc that sounds like what you're after. They also offer a lot at their Universities and are rated world wide. Brisbane doesn't have more, rather less but it might have what you need. Thing is though, the humidity and weather is so hot. I find Sydney boring and would never live there but they have Uni's as well and a lot. But the main music scene is definetely Melbourne.
Melbourne music scene would have to be the best in Australia... theres a million billion pubs an bars etc all around Melbourne, not just in the city where you can see bands every night of the week. Im a music photographer, and probably 90% of my friends are somewhat trying to succeed in the music industry whether its being a musician themselves or other areas. So its definatly the city to be in if youre into music. I know of a lot of people who have moved here purely because of the music scene! There are heaps of different art schools and such, not sure how overseas people would go about getting into those though, whether it would be different to Aus citizens. If you like cities, youll definatly love Melbourne. Im more of an open spaces girl myself, but I still love it sometimes here. Anyway hope Ive been somewhat helpful Feel free to message me if you have any specific questions or anything! Goodluck, and welcome! Peace
Woo thank u very much girls...well Ive read the same things in every link about Melbourne that Ive found..it sounds like a really great place...I think to be sure by now....... Ahh another question...is it hard to find a job there?I mean really every kind of job, I haven't problem with it Anyway, Id like to talk with anyone of u if u want...my msn is pintoriluca@libero.it
It depepnds on what area you want to be working in and what your experience and education are like, although sometimes you can catch a break. You have as much chance as everyone else so just have a go. Remember, the failure is not in failing but in not trying Have fun in a new place.
Hi Strwbry Flds.... Just joined up...Anyway, I'm from Melbourne... Plenty of culture, pretty big place...nice but changing weather (can get Hot, can get Cold, changes all the time)... Big established Italian community too...will find plenty of people to talk to and food, places to go...Try Lygon St, Carlton (near the city centre) for Italian culture, for instance. Anyway...hope that gives you some idea...
I grew up in Melbourne but got out when they destroyed the sacred ground of the mushroom. There are some great people around but as anywhere some bad ones.Love and Peace.
You can run, but you cant hide...bad people are everywhere... Melbourne's OK...more to life than 'rooms you know...4real...
