Hello there Hip folks. Well, I've been trawling the internet the last few days reading up all sorts of things about Amsterdam and that's how I found this forum. I've visited Amsterdam twice in my life...twice this year too and have decided I'm going to move to Holland in January/February 2008 when the lease on the house I'm renting runs out. Over the course of this time I'll be job hunting, house hunting and, most importantly, musician hunting so that as much as possible is prepared before I arrive. I'm 26 and Irish, male, currently living in Dublin. I don't have any specific questions just yet but thought I'd introduce myself nice and early, hopefully meet some people here who will be able to help the whole transition smoothly!
alright mate? I visited amsterdam for the first time this weekend i was only there for 6 hours and i fell in love with the place.I totally understand why you want to move there.I was thinking the same thing about moving there in the future but i would need allot of money to do that .im just going to visit every year instead i think if you lived there you would get sick of the place after a while or homesick.Im going to go back for my birthday in april next year and spend the whole weekend there hopefully. What kind of musician are you? I produce music i make hardstyle its like hardtrance mixed with hardcore it was invented in the netherlands.Good luck with your house hunting and plans to move to the dam sorry i cant help with that. Paul
Well, I'm not moving to Amsterdam for the drugs or the sex - I really love the city, the atmosphere, the people and I've been doing a lot of research into places to live in mainland Europe, I think it's the best place for me. It was down to either Vienna or Amsterdam but the prospect of Vienna is a little more daunting! I play progressive rock and metal music but I like a lot of electronica stuff too, I've messed around with compositions in Ableton and Reason quite a lot, good fun but for me I prefer hands on instruments. You should definitely visit Amsterdam again and spend some more time there, just walking around, talking to people. It's a truly great place to meet people.
yeah i spoke to allot of people and thats one of the reasons i liked it so much the dutch are very cool and there is no language barrier they almost all speak english,so talking too and meeting new people isnt a problem over there really
