Hello fellow friends I'm doing a english assignment on feminism at school and just wondering what some of the movements were in the 1960's to 1970's? Thanks heaps for your help
Well, there is this thing called google. It is what is commonly referred to as a search engine. /snide comment Sorry about that bit of snarkiness. But, I figure you may not have done too many assignments so here is some (hopefully) useful information. A good starting point for using the internet when writing papers is wikipedia. Although many teachers/professors do not like it to be used as a source, it will often have links and give enough general information to be used as a starting ground when searching for more detailed (and both properly cited reviewed) information. So, I went to google and typed in the following: feminism movements during the 60s and 70s that sent me to this page: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...ovements+during+the+60s+and+70s&aq=o&oq=&aqi= The first available choice was Feminist Movement in the United States- wikipedia a free encyclopedia The above link will take you to the wikipedia article, Second-wave feminism. So, I guess the point that I am making is that unless you are going t oa forum looking for those who were there to give you personal anecdotes (I can't help you there...) it is easier on the internet to search with the available search engines than it is to ask for people to help you and wait for responses. So, it will probably be faster for you in the future to go to google and/or wikipedia as a starting point for finding information. Note: as for how these occurrances in the U.S. may relate to Australia, I do not know. I am not very familiar with Australian domestic history.
Wow...Sorry guys, I had done plenty of reasearch, and I have done many assignments. As far as doing my homework; I was just wondering from personal experiences or to add a little extra information about less known movements that I hadn't already covered. Thanks for providing information anyway
You'll get used to the exorbitant number of assholes around here. Funny thing is, most of them are assholes when they shouldn't be, and rarely are when they should be. Go figure.
Check out "Full Frontal Feminism" by Jessica Valenti. It covers a bit of that era, as well as not being ashamed to be a feminist now. She also talks about how the whole "bra burning" thing was blown way out of proportion.
