hey, if you could take some time to read the article and the post and check out the MJS site i'd appreciate it since these are my friends here ~Dan http://www.tnimc.org/feature/display/5430/index.php www.mountainsummerjustice.org hey y'all, three activists were arrested today protesting shareholders of national coal at their annual meeting in knoxville, tn. the three arrested were chris dodson,, from blacksburg va, and sequoyah, and john johnson from knoxville, tn. they are being held at the east town police department in knoxville, tn, and possibly being charged with assault. We need help! if you can send money for jail support, please call our jail support line to pledge money so that we can tell the bondsman how much we can get. the jail support number is 865.384.7161. ask for chris. or, email mountainjusticesummer@hushmail.com., and give us your pledge-- amount and your address- this pledge can help, used for collateral for bond. they are currently not being released-- the bond for john johnson was set at $22,000, and for chris at $10,000, and sequoyah at $12,000. they are requesting a bond reduction- but need all the help you can muster! here's the story: the protesters went inside the hotel and found the door locked to the conference room. national coal shareholders were locked safe inside. the door to the meeting was held open temporarily until a police officer blocked the line from entering the room. a police officer stood outside the door while protesters were chanting. the police arrived and asked the protesters to leave. they complied and moved to the outside of the hotel were they continued to protest. the police began to gather and proceeded to arrest john johnson. the other two arrestees, chris and sequoyah - were arrested shortly there after. natioal coal has a history of using lies and intimidation to silence opposition. three activists with mountain justice summer were arrested for speaking out about the injustices of mountaintop removal. please help us get them out of jail and back onto the streets so we can continue our campaign to stop mountaintop removal! mountain justice summer is a nonviolent campaign, involving no property destruction. these three were participating in a long tradition of nonviolent civil disobedience, for the sake of out home, our mountains, and the precious appalachian ecosystems that allow us to live and breathe and thrive here. these three need your help! please call or email and make a pledge and support the mountain justice summer campaign to stop mountaintop removal coal mining! for more information about the protest and updates about jail support call brian at 703.439.0725. thanks for the support! we'll post more information as it comes.
