What album covers evoke the most emotional response in you? And can you describe why? I like ethereal sort of artwork so many of The Doors albums do it for me. First of all their logo is hollow, so it has an airy feel. My favourite album covers of theirs are probably the album "13" and "The Soft Parade". In "13" the camera angle is such that the background behind the band members is the sky. Because they appear in the sky it gives the band members an otherworldly look. In "The Soft Parade" the group appear very small on the cover, surrounded by a massive swathe of strange coloured darkness. This also creates the feeling of otherworldliness. Same deal with "Living The Blues" by Canned Heat - a photo of the group sitting by a stream or something, with psychedelic colour effects superimposed over the top. Looks very otherworldly as well. The most tragic album cover is "Hooker'n'Heat" by Canned Heat. This album was released just after Alan Wilson committed suicide. The band (minus Alan Wilson) and John Lee Hooker are sitting in a rundown, dark old apartment, looking sadly up at the camera. The only light in the room is provided by a small window in the room revealing a drab city skyline becoming enveloped in twilight, and by a large red neon sign of the album title resting against a wall. There is a picture of Alan Wilson on the wall behind the band members. Every element in the picture seems to tell a sad story.
For me, it would be two. 1, rage against the machine's self titled album I mean, it's a fucking monk on fire. How can that not evoke an emotional response. 2 would be Green Day--Insomniac. The collage was made by winston smith. His work is so amazing, I swear the man is deranged.
Well, I'm not sure if this is exactly what you meant... but I love this album cover. I love his expression in this photo, he just looks like he knows everything about you, he's disgusted at how undeniably human you are, and yet he'll still comfort you. And who could forget this one... It just fits the album so well. The whole mood of the album really goes along with the picture. I hope I'm giving you what you wanted.
The artwork from "Amnesiac" by Radiohead is just horrible in a really affecting way. It twists your gut just to look at something so awkward. I really can't think of the words to describe it. And I'm almost ashamed to say that the cover of "Life Is Peachy" by KoRn appeals to some weird part of me that I don't like much.
One of the many many things i love about Nightwish is the album covers! lol. They are all vey gothic and very pretty!! the cover for Angels fall first is very simple, and yet bewitching in some ways! its really cool. The century child cover is awesome and in some ways mirrors the bizareness of my imagination!!!! lol. The new album cover is the most gothic of all and depicts an angel crying over a tomb stone!! its so awesome and i managed to draw it by memory, i didnt copy it whatsoever!! lol peace and love xxxxxx
this just came out, but the artwork is OFF THE MOTHAFUCKIN CHAIN!!! it's a small picture, but it's rudy giuliani on the left with a remote control, dick cheney waving next to him, and bush with the oil pump.
haha i LOVE that film, that cover is so good! "it...makes me think of death...er.." Yeah i was going to say the Amnesiac (radiohead) artwork, it is really disturbing, that was the words i would have used. (and that was rubbish grammar...) jaz
Another one that you'd have to know about Syd to understand; perhaps not as profound an image as the Madcap Laughs, but still in a way very touching... Possibly the most unpsychedelic album cover ever adopted by a psychedelic rock band; plus, I mean, it's pure cow! Very colourful album cover from a band who weren't around very long and never became really well known, but still had a pretty groovy sound. And a nice little flower power number from my favourite solo artist...
i dont have a picture of it, but the album art of of lateralus is awesome. its a actually book, hard to explain, but if any of you have ever seen it then u know its awesome
