Fuck you. And freebird? I didn't read the whole thread, and it's probably been brought up, but it's a good song, but it's not THAT good. You don't need to yell it at every fucking concert you go to.
so funny. i get why you say most of the songs are overated, but seriusly they are alot of the classics that i was raised on. my sis lissend to almost all of the ones you mentioned of these songs on highest volume when i was a kid. so i love them. well maby not the beatles...never been a fan of them(don`t hate them eather)
After giving this thread much thought, I cant come up with an answer. I mean, just what is overrated? Overrated by who? Its a subjective term, and who am I to say that something is overrated when others may like the song very much. Half the songs listed here I think may be listed because people are tired of hearing them, but that certainly does not make the song overrated. The other half of the songs listed here are listed because the individual does not like the song, but that also doesnt make the song overrated either. So, with this being said, I cant really say any song is overrated.
Stairway to fucking Heaven. Yes it was good the first 20 or so times. But I've read a few too many 25 page dissertations on why it is the You DO have a point there
Well, when I think of overrated, I think of "not deserving of the acclaim it gets", meaning it is not deserving of so many fans, not deserving of the acclaim that it's fans generally give it, and also not deserving of the airtime it receives -- by the merit of the song itself. You can try =D But I do agree, that it seems the general population here is just posting stuff it thinks sucks =P
When a song is overrated it is generally rated too high both musically and socially by critics, DJs, music journalists and the like. These people tend to set the trends, but generally they DO NOT know how to distinguish one arragement from another. Like, you know, "...oh it's Rihanna, so it MUST be good...." or "....people love Lady GaGa, so any song by her MUST be good....". TRUE art dies in this way....easy-listening songs DO NOT always equal GOOD songs.....music as an ART goes much deeper than that
i would like to say after reading ppl`s replys. that i don`t really think any song is over rated. as long as a song thats been heard a thousend times still fill you whit a serten meening/feeling when your lissening to it. then thats all that matters, and sens we are all ppl whit diffrent experiences and personalities diffrent lyrics and melodies will meen diffrent things to them. for me i have a very special conaction to Nothing else matters- metallica and right here waiting-richard marx both extremly well known songs and has topt several charts but been nominated several times as "over rated" still i never seem to tire of them, becuse to me they meen something special. ive seen stair way to heaven and knocking on heavens door mentiond ALOT and i think they are playd so much cuse meny ppl can relate to them. and thats why the ones that actully lissen to the media alot will hear them over and over and over again. personally i like them but do get abitt tierd of them some times to. anyone that can agree whit me on this? what do you say?
^ Especially the "Unplugged" version. The original had some balls, aggression and longing. Then Clapton turned it into cheesy lounge music. Peace Out, Rev J

lol, sorry. I was in a bad mood. The thing is, he didn't even have an opinion, if he couldn't name the song that he thought was overrated, then it obviously isn't overated by anyone he knows, therefore he was probably just expressing hatred toward a band he is hardly knows (if at all) just cuz. is that better?
Interesting. If you get tired of a song, either you didn't really like that song in the first place (and here we have to find out why, eg. your friends manipulated you to listen to it otherwise you would be considered "not one of them"??) or perhaps you thought you might be able to like it and discovered in time some flaw in the tune. Generally, poorly arranged songs are the ones that do not stand the test of time with listeners (fans or not!).
I agree 90%. I've learned in time to see that some songs thAT topped the chaRTS were GOOD songs that "said" something to me, not only made my feet move and my brain numb
Sometimes what happens with me is that I'll really love a song or album and listen to it constantly. Then I get tired of it and stop listening to it for a while. Then I'll come back to it later. That is why I stopped listening to the radio. Once overexposed I'd never get the chance to stop listening to a track and come back to it. Peace Out, Rev J
