In my opinion, Silence of the Lambs makes it to the top of my list. I think I would've thought it was a good movie if so many people didn't tell me how good of a movie it was. It's overquoted to the point where, by the time I actually saw the movie, those scene's were humorous instead of freaky (like the scene with the girl in the ditch. "It puts the lotion on the skin. It does what it's told." How many time did I hear that line before I saw the movie?) More power to Anthony Hopkins, though. The only thing that I agreed with everyone about was his acting- he really is a great actor.
I really don't think I could narrow it down to one...I doubt I could narrow it down to ten even. I think so many movies are overrated. Especially with horror...too many horror movies are based on the effects, which are good usually..but if the plot sucks, then I will get bored fast.
the ring... I just watched it for the first time. waaay to slow moving and not terrifying. Only vaguely interesting because I wanted to find out what happened to the girl, and why the girl was the way she was (not explained... maybe it was in the second, haven't seen that yet). All my friends told me it was terrifying, blah, so not scary.
The Matrix Natural Born Killers Pulp Fiction Grease Titanic Friday the 13th Dirty Dancing Halloween The English Patient Out of Africa Top Gun Footloose Risky Business The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Ferris Bueller's Day Off Gone with the Wind Police Academy Sophie's Choice Scary Movie The Exorcist I'll just say any Tom Cruise or Meryl Streep movie.
This thread is great. Already I've saved myself a few trips to the video store. As for my picks: 1. Any film directed by James Cameron (except Terminator ...cool soundtrack) 2. Any film with Leonardo DiCapprio (except Gilbert Grape was ok) 3. Any film with Kate Winslett (except Heavenly Creatures) 4. ANY COMBINATION OF THE ABOVE
The whole Lord of the Rings trilogy was kind of a let down. Felt kind of flat, considerring all the time and $ they put into making it. I just got done reading the trilogy and now I like the movies even less.
The Incredibles- I actually liked that film, but it wasn't nearly as good as everyone said was. I've noticed that in a lot of Pixar films. Elephant- Kind of wannabe artistic crap. It wasn't a bad movie, but it was shot very poorly to the point where that was distracting and it sort of dragged on. Golden Eye- I hated that movie. It was long and pointless.
