Wow, too many great drummers to list. I'm just gonna pick two of each. Most influential... Jon Bonham (Led Zeppelin) Niel Pert ( Rush) The greatest... Aynsley Dunbar ( John Mayall, Frank Zappa, Ian Hunter, Lou Reed, Jefferson Starship, Jeff Beck, David Bowie, Whitesnake, Sammy Hagar, UFO, and Journey. Terry Bozzio ( Frank Zappa, UK, Missing Persons, Jeff Beck, Korn, Fantômas, Debbie Harry ZW
Uh oh Drummer wars! Here's some heavy artillery...Terry Bozzio and Chad Wackerman Some of you may have heard the drum solo By Frank Zappa called "The Black Page" Frank thought some people would like a melody so he wrote a tune called "The Black Page part2" Soon Frank began to realize, some people might not appreciate the "statistical density" of the " Black Page part 2" so he wrote another version called "The Black Page: The easy New York disco version" First watch this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AQt2inyxNNg&feature=related (Bozzio plays the solo) Now here's the song "The Black Page Part 2" (" Zappa plays Zappa" w/Chad Wackerman and Terry Bozzio on drums. Bonus: Steve Via on Guitar. This is a Must See vid https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8yI5ZoFO94s&feature=related ZW
Lars Ulric of "Mettalica" Keith Moon of "The Who" Mick Fleetwood of "Fleetwood Mac" Bill Bruford of "Yes" Can't forget Gene Krupa
not the best example of Cassidy.. saw Spirit 1/2 dozen times.. up close.. Ed was amazing.. far as I know is still playing.. real drag about Randy California Led Zep used to open for Spirit hmmmmm.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=czfI66yQUkk
yep .. saw the All Starr band down at the Indian casino what a show.. well worth seeing .. whatever the lineup is.. it's like seeing 3-4 different bands
I alway thought it was funny that when it comes to drumming no one thinks of Starr as a good drummer but he never misses or losses a beat, which is the main purpose of a drummer and something I've heard alot of other drummers do. He never takes over a song and yet is always doing something interesting. I can't begin to tell you how many times I've heard a long flashy song stopping solo only at the end the drummer can't find his way back to the beat and he has to stop and start the beat again.
