    Just a question - I've been on Yaz for about 5 months now, and I've noticed the last two months during my period, the flow has included more clots than usual, but it hasn't felt any different, so I haven't been concerned about it. But I'm just curious, is this anything I should be concerned about, or anything I should bring up to my doc when I see him next week? I've never heard of this before, and you hear all thsoe commercials saying "serious risks of taking the pill include blood clots, ect" and all that, but I don't think these two are related.. But knowledge is power:) So if anyone could cue me in a little here, I'd really appriciate it:D Thanks....

    Blood clots that they are talking about on the commercial do not imply the clots that you pass when you are on your period.

    I get them often and am not sure what the exact cause is...I've had them even when I wasn't on the pill. I don't believe the two are related.

    Im not exactly sure what Yaz is but I think the blood clots ur refering to have nothing to do with the clots they tell you about when u are on the pill. The blood clots that u are talkin about are the ones that most woman as far I know get them. They might be small to large but its supposedly from ur blood trying to clot(stop bleeding) while ur gettin ur period although a period isnt entirely blood but a lining that u are shedding.......

    Yaz = Yazmin (sp?)
    I was on it before, I had to go off of it, it was too harsh for me... it made me extremely nauceas, and I tried to wait and suck it up, but it just got too bad.

    I'm pretty sure Yazmin is one of the more harsh b.c. pills out there, and if you're concerned you can always talk to your doctor about trying another pill. I had to try several different kinds before I found the one that suited me best.... and thats important, to find the right pill for you. Talk to your doc about your concerns, and maybe they'll try you on something else that might work better for you.

    But, I wouldnt be toooo concerned about the clots, clots in your period isn't unusual or dangerous... I've always gotten them, even before I was on birth control. I actually get less now, and smaller since I went on Ortho Tri-Lo

    Yeah I didn't think it was anything to worry about, but it was just a change I noticed...

    Yaz is a different pill, I think it's a low dose form of Yasmin. I know it's a low hormone pill, and I haven't had any problems with it except for the first month, and just the fact that now my period is almost all clots. And that doesn't seem to be a problem, anyway...

    Thanks guys:)

    I'd bring it up with your doctor. A lot of clots, or large clots could be a symptom of fibroids.
