Well, it's been a month today since I smoked any weed. I stopped because I was going to start getting in better shape (cardiovascularly speaking) but I really haven't worked too much towards that. I went running maybe 4 times, biking about the same number of times. I realized I can't run with shoes on because the improper running style that causes (barefoot running causes me no pain, but shoes make my knees and ankles and sometimes hips hurt). But it's too cold for barefoot running, so I had to stop running all together. It's also too cold for much biking (only able to do that during "warm" spells in this northern winter weather).

Also, even after a month, with some increased exercise levels, I don't feel any better as far as lung capacity goes. Must be all that second hand smoke at work and home. Having all the windows shut in winter sucks (can you tell how much I hate winter yet?).

So, having taken this extended weed break, I'm wondering if I should just smoke down again or if I should stick to staying clean. I kind of want to smoke, because I miss it (though there's much to be said for sobriety), but I don't want to keep killing my lungs. I know it's going to be a personal decision in the end, but I thought I'd just post this anyways and hear what y'all have to say. Kind of a biased place to be posting this, haha. Anyone know how long it takes for lungs to heal after quitting smoking? Even statistics in regards to tobacco would help, just for an idea.

If your worried about lung problems, I'd highly suggest cooking something like cookies or brownies (I suggest this, as I've recently fallen in love with eating weed) :D

I think its something like 3 or 4 years until your lungs are completly clean again, of course that would depend on physical activity and environment...

First of all, I personally refuse to compare tobacco and cannabis. I know both are smoking plant materials.. but they affect the lungs totally different. Short and long term. I could barely walk up stairs when I smoked tobacco. Right now I am still sitting in my jogging shoes from earlier this evening when I went out jogging after smoking ealier today, and every day before that for months. I just havent experienced respiratory problems from herb.

Why dont you get a vape?

i made a lightbulb vape, but it's so hot and dry, really scorches my throat. I prefer my bubbler. To be honest, I never really noticed much decrease in lung capacity, but then, I was pretty lazy anyways, so it's hard to say. Plus, I was always easilly winded, due to a heart condition I have.

I'm probably going to smoke tomorrow, haha. I figure I don't smoke tons anyways, and maybe if I am working out more it'll not be a big deal?

Look, I'm not trying to telling someone to use drugs who might really prefer not to. But the effects of pot on the lungs are minimal at best. Its a natural expectorant.

expectorant? I have a good vocabulary, but... huh?

Yes, I'm gonna smoke, it's almost a forgone conclusion. I never said I was quitting for good! :D

I've smoked while I was in shape. Smoked while I was out of shape. I never could tell a difference. The only time I could tell I would tire easier is if I had gone a spell without exercising. I would just do anything you can to exercise...

I know that might be hard in the winter, but maybe you could lift some weights or just do sit-ups/push-ups....anything to get some exercise. I think that's all you need.

licorice root also helps for this. it´s in teas and stuff that are great for the throat. Throat Coat Tea by Traditional Medicinals (that´s the brand) is the best i´ve tried. feels like HEAVEN on your throat after it´s been hurtin´ from smoking too much.

i cant recommend this shit enough to smokers. it´s great for when you´re sick, too. if you drink it in the morning, your throat feels better all day long.

It takes a month for marijuana to be legally out of your system for good. If you don't want your linugs to get hurt from smoking, buy a vaporizor or make some brownies. As far as you one month of sobarness goes, your tolerance is at its ultimate low so go ahead toke up and you will get fucking stoned out of your mind!!!

hey man, long time no see in here...

id go with buying a real vape, or cooking. burning plant is harmful to the air passages(you already know this) and so anything involving flame is going to hurt your throat somewhat...something about carcinogens or whatever. but then again, i never knew you to be a heavy smoker, kinda once twice a week right?
i dont think you can go wrong if you eat right, get some kinda exercise, and youll be fine.

suggestion for exercise: you can buy a pull up bar for like 20$ at walmart. they set up in the doorway(the door can still shut all the way). it seems like kind of a blah thing to do but if you do one+ everytime you pass through the door, it gets to be a habit and it works. since i put mine up my arms have gotten cutter(not really bigger cuz i dont have much meat on my bones) and i can do like 20 pull ups now.

maybe some breathing techniques can help.

have you tried swimming. i don't mean just lounging around in the pool, i mean real lap swimming, sprinting, get your heart rate up. its a really good workout. and for new swimmers (not saying you are or not), its a great workout and doesnt' take to long. plus your cardio goes through the roof.

I actually get baked before I go work out. It helps me zone out and just get it done, cause I am an innately lazy person the zoning helps pass the time. When I quit cigs I saw a HUGE difference in my lung capacity...but not so much with the ganja. I had the possibility of a UA on my plate for like a month and a half. It was crazy cause in the end they waved it and I had 1.5 months under my belt of sobritey. And dios mio! was the high soooo good. I think I had a little straight shooter and was GONE. Waaaaaaaaaaaaay nice. My tolerance was so low.

Well, as far as buying a vap, I'm not into investing any money into this venture (smoking weed). All my pieces are homemade, and they work well. Vaps are damn expensive, too, and I'm a cheap bastard.

As far as working out goes, I'm more interested in cardio workouts, not really into lifting. And I don't have access to a pool, either. Just have to wait for warmer weather, I guess.

And lilylove, I just gotta say, that picture is hot. I like the dreads :)

    I think i'm gonna go have a bowl. :D
