I've only seen Woodstock and Monteray. Between the two I would have to say Woodstock.

I like Woodstock, Monterey (where I live!), and the Who at the Isle of Wight. I didn't like Gimme Shelter. All the violence and stopping every 30 seconds to tell people to be quiet got old very quickly.

The three US films sort of document the 18 month span, no?

fave live rock movie - Live at Pompeii

second would be the Rolling Stones Rock N Roll Circus

I like gimmie shelter, seeing airplane react to marty balin being punched is a wild scene!
Woodstock is great, as much a portrait of a movement as a music movie
Isle of Wight has some tense moments, but overall is good
Monterey Pop is always amazing to see, with Jimi smashing and Janis wailing so well

    good flicks all

only seen Woodstock, so mine would have to be that. I'd love to see both Monterey and Altamount(Gimmee Shelter) but the dvds have not been released on region 2 dvds.

Monterey was the mother of all pop festivals!.
I haven't seen the D.A. Pennbaker film but have heard the whole soundtrack.

I believe that 'The Grateful Dead' did not give permission for their performance to be included in the film.Hence their omission.
Oddly missing were two bands: 'Love' & 'The Doors'.
It is rumoured but not confirmed both bands fell out big-time with co-organiser: Lou Adler .(Who incidentially 'turned down' 'The Doors' for a recording contract) .
