I was just diagnosed with mono today. Has anyone else here had it? What was your experience like?

For me, about two weeks ago, the glands in my neck became very swollen. I was also having night sweats and didn't feel quite right overall. My initial concern was that I had lymphoma.

Within the last week I developed the most painful sore throat I have ever had, combined with swollen tonsils. My initial thought was that I had strep throat.

Today when the sore throat was becoming unbearable I decided to go to the ER, where they took blood tests and discovered it was mono.

Now that I am beginning to get over the early, acute phase, I can already feel the fatigue and body chills setting in.

I have been a relatively healthy person up to this points who watches what they eat and goes to the gym regularly. Knowing I cannot go to the gym for two months and am going to lose all the progress I have made up to this point is really depressing, but I also realize it's beyond my control at this point.

I had mono when I was 14. My only symptom was swollen glands in my neck and some fatigue. I had to miss a bunch of school and it sucked having to catch up. Other than that I didn't have any problems, but maybe it hits people differently. I was also young, that may have helped.

Sorry about your lost progress at the gym. Do your best to stay in shape at home I guess. Good luck.
