I recently got some homegrown and thought it smelled a little off... kind of musty yet fruity. It was really dank though, so I didn't think much of it. After almost finishing off a quarter oz, I'm smoking with a friend and he says "Where did you get this? It tastes moldy." It was still a little damp when I got it, but I left it out overnight to dry and didn't really consider mold as an option. I have had a bit of a sore throat but there is some stuff going around per usual winter in Maine. I only have a couple bowls left and am a little scared to smoke it but I kinda figure I have already smoked this much, may as well finish it off. Could this be the case? Could I get a lung infection or anything worse?
Oh it was kind of whiteish looking. I assumed it was trichomes but I guess it could have been cobweb mold? I don't think it was that bad and it certainly doesn't look like that now. I'm just so paranoid now.
White stuff is definitely mold. You may not get sick but it won't help to keep smoking it. I would bitch at your dealer, they should know how to dry weed. And if they do and don't care find a new guy. The thing is that it will weigh allot more wet so some use this as a way to short you. Water weighs allot.
don't waste bud! briefly run a flame across the nug to "clean" it, smoke and enjoy. life's full of risks...
I guess if you can justify your sore throat I'd keep smoking it. try to get some of it off if you really are worried about it. otherwise danakin got it right, go to your dealer
nonsense....a flame to a bud will burn all the outer trichs off immediately and will not penetrate to burn only mould dude...couple bowls is nothing...finish it and be more careful next time if you ever have ounces gone mouldy you can butane it or make bubble hash to get rid of most of the mould with pounds you can take a garden hose to it and most of it will wash away
