i smell a bit of mold in one of my dreads what should i do? i'm becoming a bit concerned. it's my thickest one and it always takes 13 or more hours to dry and the other day i took a bath and put them back in a ponytail and left it all day then took another shower so it (they) were wet for a few good days why oh why did i do that grrrrrrr
read the stickes the herbs for your heads thread dry in sunshine when you can i thinm its 2 formulasa 1 was something like a cup of white vinagar 1/3 cup water and some lavander oil the other was a bunch ogff ..i think thyme? yewa like 3 cups i think in bioling water then simmered for 20 minutes i think cool then soak try both ..but sun drying helps a ton thicker drteads are extra susceptible to mold so check that 1 most and dry it most thourough mi8ne take 38 hours to dry in normalo circum, stanhces and in heat i dump water over nmy head to cool down all day sometimes and never molded, ...but in hot sdun they dry very fast..20 min gets em preetty close to dry dont fear you'll be able to kill it if its thrre with that method...
hi soaring eagle missed you too! i was hoping someone would say dip that sucker in bleach for a few minutes, seems quiker and easier lol i've been thinking i'll try that and if it doesnt work i'll take your suggestion
bleach probly would too...but harsh if bleach will lemon juice will too when camping in the wilderness many use a tiny bit of bleach to purify water..but many dont like that idea for odvios reasons so use lemon juice instead, it killes anything in the water
thanks SE i'll try that first then i better get on it before i end up with a tropical rainforest of spores on my head
just to be sure repeatr thew treatments ove4r a couple weeks or so lately i just added lavfander to the deep cleandse and for conditioning switched from acv to white vinagar and asdd the oils to that too (with cocoa butter too) just as a precaution
nothing good comes from nothing done anyways i think it's less work i was spending more time on my hair before i dreaded it
as aposed to an hoiur in fronmt of a mirror every day combing using sprays and gells and what not to tame every hair , going to salons every 2 months to get trims or stylings dying and curling and straightening and crimping and shavinmg and ..all the other crazy things ya do?
yea, I didn't word that right. What I meant was sounds like too much hassle just for a hair style. Work no, you don't really have to do anything with it
I don't do any of that. I have a huge afro, my hair looks exactly like a mix between Bob Ross and Bob Dylan
its no hassle at all..in 20 years now almost i hagfe had no problems and doubt i spent more then 5 minutes every few months doing anything to it or even thinking about it havent even looked in as mirror in probably 3-4 years now
Then you apparently don't wash your hair. Nymphsue, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Dip it in ACV. Maybe mix a few drops of tea tree oil with H2O and soak your lock in it for a while. Just be sure not to tie your hair up anymore after you shower. Let those suckers breath and dry out.
