I've heard the name but not the music. I was wondering what they're like - are they trip hop, or anything like Morcheeba or Portishead? Worth a listen? Cheers, razy
Mogwai are amazing, Its post rock, nothing like trip hop really. Post rock bands usually have a traditional indie set up with the main emphasis on the guitars and drums and usually without vocals. The music is relaxing and intense at the same time. Soft and gentle melodies with dramatic build ups lead to a euphoric vastness which I often associate with flying over great landscapes. If you like Mogwai I would also recomend Godspeed you black Emporer, Explosions in the sky, Mono, Mew, Sigur Ros and Pelican, all of which bring a unique style to the genre.
