Hey all, I hope everyone had a happy 420, you lucky bastards. I am currently looking for a better job, so I may be subjected to a piss test, so I can't smoke right now. Anyways, point of the thread: a couple of days ago I read somewhere online about how smoking pot inhibits the formation of new blood vessels, thus it can slow tumor growth (because tumors need to make new blood vessels in order to grow.) Now, I can't find that website. There is a medical term for the inhibition of blood vessel formation, and I can't remember what that word is. Help. Also, I read that there is a gene that tells our cells to stop replicating in order to grow at a controlled pace. This article said that cancers can turn off this gene, so they can grow at an uncontrolled rate. Researchers may think that the great green can force the body to turn that gene back on, another way that weed can fight cancer. Also it would be great to know if these benefits come from smoking weed or if you can get these benefits from that stupid shit, marinol. However, I'sa be a lil bit wetadid and I closed firefox without bookmarking the websites or writing anything down and now I can't find them again. I've tried googling the info, but I can't find it. Has anybody else heard this info, and can you point me back to what I am looking for. Thanks, y'all

THC has anti-tumor properties. .... cancer growth, inhibit angiogenesis Google cancer and marijuana and you will find that cannabinoids in marijuana starve the growing cancer cells until it dies. Cells are half DNA half binary switch protein, on or off depending on external environment signals matching cell receptors according to a doc I saw on free speech tv a while back. The protein hasn't been studied the past 50 years very much until recently. My thoughts are Cannabis balances cell proteins back to the DNA original recipe. External pollution, injury, food, exposures etc could "turn on" the normal cell into cancer but for the cannabinoids throughout the skin organ, the actual decision maker of the body. Telling the brain how to deal with whatever, same as using a computer. Or amplifying the cannabinoid to "turn off" the cancer. Plus the antibiotic and antiseptic properties and immune system aid cannabis flowertops and seed provides. But prevention and cures don't profit the corporate science like "treatment". Cannabinoids Produced in The Human Body Endocannabinoids seem to play an important role in regulating inflammation processes. Scientists from the University of Bonn have discovered this in experiments on mice. Their results will be published in the distinguished scientific journal Science on Friday, 8 June. The study may also have implications for therapy. In animal experiments, a solution with an important component made from cannabis reduced allergic reactions of the skin. Turned-off Cannabinoid Receptor Turns On Colorectal Tumor Growth ScienceDaily (Aug. 4, 2008) — New preclinical research shows that cannabinoid cell surface receptor CB1 plays a tumor-suppressing role in human colorectal cancer, scientists report in the Aug. 1 edition of the journal Cancer Research. CB1 is well-established for relieving pain and nausea, elevating mood and stimulating appetite by serving as a docking station for the cannabinoid group of signaling molecules. It now may serve as a new path for cancer prevention or treatment. "We've found that CB1 expression is lost in most colorectal cancers, and when that happens a cancer-promoting protein is free to inhibit cell death," said senior author Raymond DuBois, M.D., Ph.D., provost and executive vice president of The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center. DuBois and collaborators from Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center also show that CB1 expression can be restored with an existing drug, decitabine. They found that mice prone to developing intestinal tumors that also have functioning CB1 receptors develop fewer and smaller tumors when treated with a drug that mimics a cannabinoid receptor ligand. Ligands are molecules that function by binding to specific receptors. Agonists are synthetic molecules that mimic the action of a natural molecule. "Potential application of cannabinoids as anti-tumor drugs is an exciting prospect, because cannabinoid agonists are being evaluated now to treat the side-effects of chemotherapy and radiation therapy," DuBois said. "Turning CB1 back on and then treating with a cannabinoid agonist could provide a new approach to colorectal cancer treatment or prevention." continued...
