I would like some critical feedback on a blog entry at SomethingToThinkAbout.info, dated Sept. 12, 2007, entitled "Hit the Showers" regarding mixed-orientation showering. I am hoping to begin a dialogue regarding the thoughts in this blog entry with members of your community. I'm at yahoo.com.
Well being a gay 14-year old, I go through this pretty much every day in the locker rooms at school. However, I don't know if this is normal, but I really don't look at the other guys in a sexual manner. I mean, it's obvious that everyone, including heteros, glance at each other from time to time, but I don't get horny looking at them. At first, I expected I would, and when I didn't I was pretty surprised. I was also on the wrestling team, which is sort of the same situation except with physical contact and not nudity. It's strictly, at least for me, for the sport, it's not at all sexual.
in my opinion the shower should be open to anyone of the same sex and if you are self-conscious or worried about being sexually harassed by someone of a homosexual orientation then it should be YOUR choice to take that chance and shower 'together' or if you prefer, not shower in a public place. it should not be up to a bunch of close mind-ed self-conscious self absorbed people assuming that someone else would WANT to look at them in a sexual way because think about it, if you are gay and you have not even met a person, are you going to just walk up to them naked?!? NO! same as in a heterosexual "relationship" you don't make your first impression NAKED!!!
Just chill - that is very true - i totally agree - Just cut the crap and get on with it weather you are gay or straight.
