I just had a baby ten weeks ago. At my five week post partum visit the doctor inserted the Mirena IUD. I had the usual cramping then i got my period exactly when they said i would. Well now my period is late. So i searched under google about IUD's and come to find out alot of people get pregnant with an IUD. I know i might be a little paranoid, but i'm also experiencing pregnancy symptoms. Can anyone tell me anything to help me out?

Its very unlikely you are pregnant using the mirena coil, they are not like the old IUD they have a hormonal capsule that slowely releases a hormone into your womb for the first three months, which thins the lining of the womb to almost nothing, hence no periods, I had one for 5 yrs and never had a period at all, that normal for the mirena coil. If in doubt do a test! you doctor should have told you this! and incase its a concern normal firtility returns very quickly after its removed, I was pregnant within a couple of months of having mine taken out
