    what are some things you do to remain mindful and unattached?
    what type of meditation do you use when your active in the world?

    Love. Love all things as an extension of yourself. When dealing with others, don't think from your standpoint, but from that of the other person, develop such perfect empathy.

    To develop detachment, a good technique is to analyze the object in question and see the ways in which it can be spiritually harmful to you - dosha darshanam.

    Meditation is not something you do, or use, it is not an action.

    Meditation is a noun, a state of being, an awareness as effortless as breathing. Everything else is simply an exercise to reach that state.

    I agree totally - meditation is a state of being, a state of consciousness.

    A useful thing is just to try to stand back from things and situations - try consciously to detach the consciousness.
    Myself, I also find Japa repitition of a mantra either silently or out loud, depending on circumstances, can help one get centered within.
