This is the football player who went to prison for mistreating dozens of pit bulls. He kept them for dog fighting, a despicable "sport" in which the animals are tortured and killed merely to satisfy the warped bloodlust of a few idiots. I understand he has finished his sentence and is now out of prison. Obviously, I don't know him personally and so I have no idea of the degree of his contriteness and rehabilitation, such as it is. But I do believe he has paid his debt, and should now be left alone to resume his life. He should be allowed to return to football, if that's his wish. His case is important, I think, because high profile individuals carry more clout in creating public awareness of things like this. For the same reason, I think he has a golden opportunity to make a statement about cruelty to animals. I know he has a right to live his life as he sees fit, but it would be a shame if he simply let the whole issue die, and went back to being a rich athlete. What do you guys think?
i think he should be left alone as he has served his sentence, but i don't believe his sentence was good enough. i'm not really for cruel & unusual punishment, but i believe that sometimes someone just needs their face beat in. i also think that if he wishes to go back to football, he should. but i think he should be involved in some kind of animal charity to prove he is rehabilitated and regretful/ashamed of his actions.
I think there are far worse and heartless criminals in this world, micheal vick is a dick, but when you look at the big picture of crimes in the world, he's barely a drop in the bucket.
He proved what his bottom line character was--I suppose he'll come up with some phony contriteness like the white collar criminals that become "born again"phonys
I agree with you Caliente, he served his time he should be left alone to presume any profession he wishes. Though if he makes it back into the NFL and thus the public eye, it would make for a great opportunity to speak against animal cruelty especially considering he is one of the first big stars to be sent to jail for an offense. Hopefully he'll be more than grateful for his return into the NFL, and open animal shelters and charitable events for our mistreated four-legged companions. That will not only help the animals but will bolster his popularity in a positive way and decrease some of the media backlash that is sure to follow his return to pro sports. Yes, it's all politics with those guys.
Really??!! Dog fighting?? Vick may have served his sentence, but I've heard nothing about his remorse (maybe because he doesn't have any?). He should NOT be allowed to play football again. Children look up to athletes and he will never be hero material. Just another jerk who is only sorry he got caught.
I couldn't agree more. I would never suggest that he should get anything worse than what he did to the dogs. However, my opinion is the Hammurabi code is a good justice system. Someone should tape his mouth shut and let him fight a pit bull.
hes no more greasy than the agencies that support him and still make a buck on him now... dogs are collateral damage..
Yeah - I gotta say I basically agree with you Tisha. My son just about made me sick AND mad the other week, as he feels like he served his time and is under the (imo false) assumption that he "didn't actually DO anything." Even tho" I quoted what I KNOW I remember hearing about this heinous crime, he/my son basically refused to want to hear it and/or believe me. Supposedly the dude is a great football player, and an excellent thrower? Personally, I don't give a shit if he can sprout wings and turn back the hands of time...his actions make him, to me, irredeemable as a Public Figure that our children, our posterity looks to for "heroes". FGS! Call it a model or whatever...kids look UP TO someone like him, unfortunately. Let him loose on an island with some of his dogs. Don't kill him. NO! Give him even more of a chance than the ones I heard he drowned. Let's give him (since man's intelligence is "proven") even more than the same chance as his dogs (and I bet he'd be dog-chow for supper...shut up, bad fingers!) Those commercials that I am sure he is paying for, showing this doggies that have been adopted out and blah blah just make me want to puke. Sorry to have gotten on that rant; but people, EXPECIALLY public figures that would Harm a creature born and at this point usually bred to love and protect us...well, it should NOT be ignored nor blandly accepted. All that is necessary for evil to prosper is for good men to do nothing.
Michael Vick should not be left alone for what he has done. Sure he served his time but what about those poor dogs he thought was funny and okay to put in dog fights. Not only that but to abuse them too. I find it really unfortunate that he was allowed back into the NFL. In my option animal abuse is one of the worst crimes possible. As a animal lover I say his sentence should have been longer. He also should not have been allowed back into the NFL as someone for kids to look up to when he clearly is not. Though that is just my option.
Michael Vick should be forced to fight gladiator style to the death with another NFL jock meathead, while a bunch of goons yell at them and throw money around. Then I feel he would have "paid his debt". Fuck that guy. Waste of fucking life.
