You're just jaded Priest's best songs aren't as good as the worst songs of Metallica's Kill em thru And Justice for All era.
i still dig me some metallica when i hear them on the radio. now what about rage against the machine?
just a bit but maybe i should elaborate more on the first posting... I was realizing how much am starting to dislike dave mustaine for bieng a complete fucking wanker. He goes on the radio supporting Santorum but then goes on and writes two back to back albums on the new world order but supports a republican? anyone with enough research done on the NWO understand that republican and demos are the same thing.....Daves such a poser....he thinks his so ahead on being progressive and shit. Also he goes on talking about how he wants to do a lars , hetfield and mustaine record which would be a good idea.....ah was that done 30 years ago? and wasnt that results him geting kicked out the band? as for metallica doing some shitty multi genre festival " Orion" instand of doing a ozzfest like festvial to help smaller metal bands get big their doing some dumb festival with wack ass TRENDY bands..,,,,these guys are metal anymore and have no culture in them anymore problaby by they been sucking balls for the last 18 years.... FUCK MEGA and Metallica BLASPHEMY!!!! PAINKILLER > anything metallica....
I'm one of the lucky people who can enjoy music without letting the musicians behind it ruin it When they're sympathic people that's pretty nice though but if they are or become stupid wankers (like Hetfield and Ulrich) it often shows in their sound On the other hand I certainly dig music of (most likely) quite disgusting people also. I generally don't know them in person though so why let it interfere.
yeah i had no clue that these band members were such douches anyways... still good music! black album my favorite.
Obiously what matters most is the music itself indeed. I utterly disliked Metallica's music for yerars, I haven't even checked out their latest out of lack of interest. But I still love most of the pre-load albums. I have always experienced Megadeth's music generally as boring.
Ugh, I dont know what the fuck is going on with Metallica nowadays And Dave Mustaine just looks so tired and old Max has a new album out with Soulfly, havent got it yert, but its supposed to be nice and heavy, so theres some hope. But the current state of thrash metal in particular, inthe toilet. Machine heaare the only decent ones going, and still sounding awesome, but thats it
Man I'll take priest any day of the week . Mustane never got over being dumped , sounds like a crybaby bitch . Boo-hoo-hoo .It's like his ego could never handle that shit. Even though Megadeath made their own name .And Mustane is no slouch , he is to good to let the past get to him .Metallica only had four good albums , and then got lazy and rich and started puttin out any old shit for money . Back in the day when they on track they were one hell of a band , and they too are a classic . And I give em props for that . But to slam Priest , no way ! Priest was on the scene WAY before Metallica . j.p 1970 m. 1981 Just whose riffs were an up and coming Metallica listening too ? Who set the bar for whom ? And very high I might add. load = shit , reload =more shit = St. Anger = I was done with them The only Priest album I didn't care for was Turbo , all the others including the new stuff I like however , a couple of my friends don't like the new stuff . I think they are planning on retiring this year , and I have to say to me , they will never be the same without K.K. Downing . But they ain't called metal gods for nothing , even though it started out from their tune metal gods . It's true ! Lets compare vocals Rob Halford vrs. Hetfield No freakin contest there . Lead and rhythm Hetfield / hammett = EXCELLENT vrs. K.K. Downing/ Glen Tipton =MAGIC Bass . Rob Trujillo = EXCELLENT ( although I always missed Cliff Burton ) vrs. Ian Hill = EXCELLENT Drums Lars = excellent vrs. Dave Holland / Scott TRavis = excellent Metallica has the talent to still put out top notch metal like they use to , but they have so much money is the heart of the beast still there ? It doesn't seem so . Money and ego screw up everything . Think I pop in some old priest right now , or maybe Maiden ? Oh hell , Master of puppets it is .
First off soulfly sucks and the best brasilian band is Angra. Thrash is in the toilet? And machine head is thrash? Lol U obviously lack to b well informed that thiers still good thrash bands out their ......Holy Grail, Evile , Gama Bomb and btw Overkill has been better then ever listen to Ironbound came out 2010....shits heavy.
I see no use in comparing Angra and Soulfly just because they're both from Brasil. They are on completely different sides on the metal spectrum. Soulfly hasn't made much impression on me neither, I guess I'm not much of a thrash fan. I grew up with Sepultura though so some of their old albums hold a special place. I was an even bigger fan of old Angra, my interest in that kind of music has withered but of course what I was into is still enjoyable when I choose to listen to it at times By the way, I have always found Newsted a worthy replacement of Burton. Not so much the later bassists in Metallica but I admit that has probably more to do with their overall music changes.
Metallica kinda sold out, Dave Mustane is an arrogant asshole. But they have done some good music. Jump in the Fire, Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, One, Sanitarium, Fade To Black, after the Enter Sandman album though it kinda went to shit. I was Amazed to find out Rob Halford was gay. I mean considering then I thought about it and I thought, ok it's not really that big a surprise is it. Kind of like a Freddy Mercury moment. Breaking the Law and the album its from is one of my favourites of all time.
What exactly would you label Machine Head as then? Soulfly, well I loved their first album, their latest I'll have to listen to to pass judgement. I'm sure their are some great thrash bands that no ones heard of . But you know what I mean, the number of thrash bands or of a similar genre that are big enough to pull a big crowd at a music festival or fill a decent sized stadium ....who do we have at the moment. Machine head came to mind, well I thought any way their last two albums were awesome and are awesome live. Apart from that who are the biggest, getting very broad with the genre - Disturbed and Bullet FM Valentine and Slipknot, all three not exactly thrash, but a side effect of that nuMetal crap we went through last decade. Live is half the goods, doesnt matter how great the band are if they are only going to ever fill something that doubles as a Uni Auditorium Thrash, not exactly thrash, labels whatever, but you know what I mean. Its annoying we've either got the old big ones that have sold out or tired and have given up, or all this nuMetal shit I'll take you up on Overkill, but I said Machine Head cos they are the only ones at the moment I can think of where if they tour, I know they are going to pull a big crowd, big mosh pit and I'm going to come out pumped up wanting to punch everyone in the face Even the Almighty Slayer, even though I'm so over hearing Mandatory Suicide, I'm still going to go, cos I know the mosh it is going to be awesome. Who else is there at the moment?, any metal bands that can pull a bigger crowd than Machine Head...that are actually free of any sensitive little moments
I agree that Maiden and Priest are far better than those two but I can't discredit old Metallica and old Megadeth. However, i'm pretty tired of hearing people debate and compare those bands. I don't care what connection they have, they aren't that much alike musically. That said, I can't stand Dave Mustaine. His political views are retarded and I think he's one of the most overrated guitar players. Am I suppose to get a hard on because he can shred really fast? His solos rarely have any feel and he's ran out of good riffs by now.
I thought everybody realized that they were shapshifting reptilians by the time black album came out? anyway whatever, I gotta go to work.
