i realize there's always been tension between the north and the south, but i think that even more depressing than our vanishing rights is seeing the country so polarized and divided. i think it's that very division, and the fear that fuels it that is allowing the brutal rape of Lady Liberty by Uncle Sam: if you're afraid of every shadow and busy hating your neighbor, you're not going to notice or care about the political vampires that are sucking the life out of our civil liberties.

Agreed, which is what i think the real sad thing about the iraqi war, that it removed that common bond that we once had. I DO find that rant childish. It is wrong for any group fo states to claim the heritage of this country. No one state has a monopoly on any of it. No matter whether franklin, washington, madison and jefferson were born in the north or the south they were still AMERICANS. Someone from new mexico has as much claim to that heritage as someone from connecticut, new york, pennsylvania or virginia.
